My ex-boyfriend and I are having terrible problems. Recently, I found out I am pregnant and need to move home to get proper care. He refuses to be civil and let me back out of the lease. I made a call previously to authorities when he tried to kick me out so there is a record of previous violence. I am wondering if I can use this to get out of the lease and leave him liable? He is capable of affording the apartment (I am not). He also said he wanted me out before.

HOW do I get out of this without breaking the lease or ruining my credit?! I can't live with him I'm afraid of losing this baby!

How do I get out of the lease then?

They put together a very poor lease that states nothing about breaking or subletting or assigning the lease to anyone else. It doesn't even state where we are to pay utilites!

You cannot break a lease based upon the terms stated. It is no fault of the landlord that you have domestic issues. You are certainly allowed to leave the premises, but leaving won't relieve you of the financial liabilities involved.

Your lease isn't with the boyfriend, its with the landlord.

You can move and hope that the boyfriend pays the rent so that it doesn't effect you.

I'm sorry for what you are going through. However, there's a lot worst things that you are messing up in your life then your rent payment.

Why did you move in with him. II'm sure it wasn't a surprise that he was a jerk. Why did you get pregnant? I would take a long deep look at your life and see what's wrong and what can be done-especially for the baby to be.

As difficult as it might be, talk to the landlord about your situation and see if they’ll cut you a break.
