you could paint a nude but then get some white cotton material dip it in plaster of paris and drape your nude adding folds or wrinkles, it can be painted, adding higlight and shade, if it hangs over the edge of the canvas it would look great, a three dimensional painting, something different. To be honest, I havent had a go at it myself yet but it's an idea I've had in my head to do for a long while.

Make a design using various forms of pasta. It is not only beautiful, it is unusual. If you are a crafts person it only takes different shapes of pasta and white glue. You generally place the picture in a shadow box frame, you can leave it it's ecru color or you can paint the pasta a color theme to match the apartment.

The "in" thing at the moment is a grey coloured canvas with pastel shade (magenta, pale yellow etc) horizontal rectangular blocks or stripes on it. DIY shops are knocking them out for £12. I'm sure you could do better.

You can leave it blank and find a rad frame. A work made for an apartment should consider the aesthetic of that room. What mood do you want to create. Start there and then ask again.
