Steely Dan
"Reeling in the years "
a birthday song played alot by KSHE

Your everlasting summer
You can see it fading fast
So you grab a piece of something
That you think is gonna last
(MY LOVE is gonna last with MY Missy)
You wouldnt know a diamond
If you held it in your hand
The things you think are precious
I cant understand

(((SHE is )))
etched upon my mind
After all the things weve done and seen

What? I grab something I think is gonna last, am I reeling in something?

This makes no sense.

Not necessarily. If you just grab it, you're just holding on. If you pull in, and try to draw it towards you, you're reeling it in. If you grab it to push it away, you're rejecting it. but if you just grab a piece of it cuz you think it's gonna last, that's just attaching yourself to it in a non-parasitic way. Seems okay to me.

Can you be more specific? If you're talking about relationships, "grabbing" it may well prevent it from "lasting".
