My 23 Year old boyfriend recently started losing his hair. being so young, he wants to stop it now before it gets any worse. He was considering using Rogaine, however the directions say only to use for hairloss on the crown of his head. He is however, losing hair around his hairline (male pattern baldness). Would it be bad to disregard the directions and use it around the hairline?

I am assuming that the instructions are there for a reason. Rogaine is a systemic drug and will affect areas other than where directly applied. It was originally developed as a drug to treat high blood pressure. You might just want to check with your pharmacist to make sure he can use it directly on his hairline. Good luck.

I started losing my hair around the same time your bf is, if you use it the wrong way it will not work and its expensive. I suggest try using propecia its a pill but has some bad side effects or he should shave his head like i do or else keep it short.
