I'm 37 weeks and feeling totally unprepared...

With my last pregnancy (3rd baby) earliest signs were loose stools and frequent painful Braxton-Hicks contractions. They were actually regular for a while and about 5 minutes apart, but when I rested they finally subsided so I knew it wasn't time to go....yet.

Then 2 days later my waters started leaking out steadily. Not a gush....just a trickle. I called my midwife and went in about an hour after that. My baby was born 9 hours later.

With my 2nd I went into labor at 39 weeks and with my 3rd at 38 weeks. The first baby was c-section. With my 2nd I had no labor "warning signs." While I was getting ready for bed that night I noticed mild contractions that wouldn't go away. All night they got stronger and I took a shower and cleaned my house. At 7 am the next morning they were very painful so we went to the hospital. I was at 5 cm and my baby was born another 12 hours later.

Earliest Signs Of Labor

I have really long, drawn-out prodromal labors. Days. I also have a chronic pain condition so that labor doesn;t really "hurt" for me until I'm quite far gone. Really I had to just rely on a hand on teh belly to make sure each contraction was real and that they did get tighter and closer together. I have spoken to MANY mothers in the same circumstance-virtually pain free labors until a ways into it, so it is not uncommon at all.

i was a little scared i wouldnt know what contractions felt like since the only way my doc could describe them was like period cramps but i had never had any. but when the time came i just knew. it was a 2 hour drive to the hospital and i told the doc i was scared i wouldnt make it but he just assured me that when my contractions became 5 mins apart to call him and head to the hospital and i would be fine. the drive was actually alot smoother than i thought and i still had plenty of time when i got there. dont worry about taking too much with you, the hospital will supply you will most everything you need and the other stuff you think you will use, you wont.

With my kids about a day or two before I had them my stomach would get really hard and then soft. It doesn't hurt and you don't notice unless you are touching your stomach, but this is your body getting ready for labor. The hardening of your stomach is a super early sign of labor. If you notice it then you can plan that you should have your baby within the next week.

i dont believe so, my early labour felt like interval pains that acquired more potent and stonger (slight cramping feeling) unfotunatly in past due being pregnant any twinge makes you factor that is it! the stress might probably simply be the toddlers head attractive into your pelvis
