I have learned to care less of what others think of me. Life is just too short to let others feeling control my life, especially they are the evil ones that you don't care about anyway. Ignore them and just be cordial.
Choose friends wisely. Spending time with the one who values you of who you are and ready to uplift and makes you laugh and also ready to dry some tears.
Travel light and get rid of extra baggage. Keep life simple and enjoy the ride.

Several good answers given-The wearing of the purple, the comfortable shoes, the grandkids, the freedom, but I especially enjoy that I can be who I've always wanted-act how I want without caring (too much) what others thing. Oh yeah and the wisdom from having had so many experiences.

I like your answer. Although I loved the challenge of the daily routine at work, I do like the freedom of retirement. I can do my chores on my schedule, and haven't got crabby managers down my neck. I worked at Walmart for a year after retirement, and I really loved the customers, but some of the managers were so hateful, they would actually go out of their way to make your life miserable. It was nice having the freedom to tell them at any time of my choosing, "Take this job and shove it!"

I suppose that kinda goes along with what I am about to say. For me it is wisdom, and compassion, and the older I get the more I realize, that there is a GOD. GB and GL

Not dropping dead, where you don't get any older!

Seriously - a much greater understanding of the world around you, and a realization that you are more aware of the good (and bad) things in life.

Sparky Says;
Who told you that there are good aspects of getting older? there is nothing good about getting older. Just be happy that you are still able to ask questions like this because, sooner or later you will not care.

Being able to speak your mind with impunity.

Seriously, I feel more "laid back," and if I speak my mind, I do it very nicely, so no one feels hurt.

I no longer HAVE to do anything I don't want to do, and unless it's league night at the bowling alley or a doctor's appointment or a theater date, I don't have to BE ANYWHERE I don't want to be.

Age and retirement are SO liberating!

Retirement.

One of the joys for some is a source of frustration to others, watching those still young enough to know everything make fools of themselves in their ignorance and inexperience. The sad part of that is they cause so much harm.
