I have seen a log, ready for the fire, with the present inside.
The guy had drilled a hole, put in a pen (the present) and filled the hole with a bit of wood that fit so good that it could not be seen.
An ax was needed to open it.

An other classic, if you have a school near where the weld, is to have thick metal welded into a box shape. You will need to use heavy tools to open the pack.

If you use one of the impossible to open packages you might want to put in an IOU, with the real present hidden somewhere in the house.
Do not put it in place till he is sitting down to open his present, best have a break to get a drink and only put it in place then.
This in case that he is not able to open it without real damage.

Do you want TRULY impossible? Use chains and pad locks!

Or do you just want mildly impossible (i.e. very time consuming)? If this is the case, there's always the old trick of using wrapped box, upon wrapped box, upon wrapped box, which I suppose you could wrap each in duct tape and/or other hard to get through things (wax maybe?).

Good luck!

what you have to do is take the present and put it in a box. tape it as much as possible. then, take THAT box and put it in a bigger one. fill that one with newspaper or something, and then tape up THAT one. on the outside of that one put a ton of baling wire or such all over it tightly, and then get a HUGE bag. after the box(es) is (are) inside, Take the bag up ad then, after you tape it, put tape all over, so that it is immposibble to find the origonal tapings. and THEN, (finally then) wrap it all up in ribbons over ribbons over ribbons. and what you have to do on top of that, is type out a little note or such and put it on his gift. Have it say, "Roses are red, Violets are blue, You don't know how much, I want to beat you." hahah good luck! HiH : )

Give the boxes to a friend or neighbor to hold for you and then make up other boxes {empty except one that has something that rattles} to look like them and put them in the trash. {not on the day trash is picked up but a day or two before.} Tell him one of them is his gift if he leave all others alone.

If it's small enough, get a lock box with a padlock, put it inside, and keep the key on your key ring. Give him the key on Christmas.

Something like this:

I got one of those at WalMart for about $10 to keep medicine in.

Make the box out of sheet metal and pop rivet it shut.
Or even better, make it out of heavier metal, and weld it shut.
You could encase that in concrete.
