Diamond. Diamond is the hardest mineral on earth, it set the scale for hardness. Quartz has a hardness of about 6 or 7 whereas a diamond has a harness of 10.

Diamond with a hardness of 10 is harder than quartz that has a hardness of 7 (Mohs Hardness Scale which is relative and doesn't measure true hardness), but according to absolute/true hardness using a sclerometer, a diamond is 15 times harder than quartz (1500:100; The hardness number is the weight in grams required to produce a standard scratch).
