Did you ever notice that some web pages are like this: http://www.webpage.com/example/
but others are like this:
http://www.webpage.com/example.html
What is the difference and how can I make my webpage be like the first example. When I try to make it like the first example it doesn't work without the .html or .htm at the end. Help? Thanks!

From buying the domain to putting it on the host.

The second answer is correct.. In the internet process if you type in a name it defaults to looking for index.htm

So the site that is listed below ends with index.htm
BUT if you left that off it would still go to the same page so when you make your main page name it index.htm and it will go there as default.

In the first example they have a folder called example with an index.html file in it. Create a folder and start a new document called index.html and then it will work like the first example. It's better for search if you do the first example for your entire site.
