It mixed in the first few minutes.

Check your antifreeze thouigh, many brands are already diluted, and don't need water added to them.

Yes, - but it will only take a few minutes, -- till the engine heats up to "normal" running temperature. After which the water pump will circulate it around till it is well mixed! There is also a certian amount of "capilliary" travel of anti-freeze into water also, though it may not travel as far as entire system for quite some time, - and even then, it will not be 100% as it goes somehat by "stratification" in mixture (heaviest lowest,- lightest highest)!


Not only that, - but there is another thing that most people don't know! Just one pint of antifreeze (mixed with water) will keep the engine block from freezing and breaking. With antifreeze mixed, the water freezes at the same rate everywhere, - it will for sure freeze,-- but what breaks the block, is having the water freeze in all the "exit areas", - so that water can't escape and relieve the "expansion pressure" . I have had cars with insufficient antifreeze for the temperature outside, --when engine started, the waterpump would not turn becacuse of being frozen solid. The belt slips (if not real tight), - I just let engine idle slowly for about a minute, - shut off and wait a couple minutes, then repeat several times till the waterpump starts turning! After which you can let it idle till the engine starts indicating near hot, - I generally put a piece of paper or cardboard in front of radiator then, --and just drove with radiator partially covered, to keep heat "up" inside car! Without air coming through to cool the radiator, it will not freeze the water solid again! I'm the first to tell you that I don't care to be "messing around" under the hood when it is 35 to 40 (or more) below zero!

PS: "pure antfireeze" is best value, otherwise you are paying almost as much for the water, as you are for the antifreeze. There is only a dollar or so (difference) less for 50/50 mix,-- as compared to a gallon of 100% antifreeze!

Yes The fluids will mix in the radiator,
The exception is that if you used the wrong fluid or try to mix a silicone base coolant with an ethyl glycol based coolant- these will not mix easily- a new coolant is acvailable that mixes with both types of anti-freeze, check your auto store

yo e'en Stine since i have a lot of time on my hand,s give me a shout and i will explain about the car radiator and how it,s work,s. same as a gas tank full of gas you do not pump air in the gas tank to get it to run do you see where i,m coming from some thing,s just take care of them selve,s just put the radiator cap back on . and every thing will be all right.

they will be mixed as soon as you poored them your question that you want to ask is my car going to run ok and if i caused damage to it. the fluids are ment to mix and they are as soon as you started your car dont worry and in the future when you put fluids in start your vehicle first for maximum mixture from start.

should be fine but dont do it again. best way is to buy the type you have to mix yourself. Dump half in another bottle and fill them both with the same amout of tap water.

yes absoutly.... as your car runs it will circulate through the block and the water pump and will mix itself right up.... You did everything just right.....

they will mix quickly, especially when you start the car the water pump will mix it all up.

Noone ever said you cannot "mix" them. What do you think happens when they go in the same resevior??
