Essay writing is one big fun thing if you know how. The Net offers a bunch of information about this topic but to give you a gist of simply what it takes to make one best one, here's what to remember:
1. Good topic. Choose a good, comprehensive topic for your piece. When I say good it should be educational, useful, interesting, timely, and information-packed. You must choose the best topic that can catch your readers attention at whatever ages, degree or level.
2. Cathy title. In every story, the most important thing you should practice is formulating a good and attention-grabbing title. This is the show window of your story so if your readers find it nothing, you can never make them read the whole thing you want to share them.
3. Research your material. In every writing piece, the topic is one important factor to consider. In line with this and whatever topic you have decided, you must make sure that you have enough knowledge of it or its in line with you interest and specialty. In case, you can supplement the topic in doing intensive research but remember not to plagiarize. Try to understand the whole stuff and restate it based on your own words.
4. Outlining and coherence. The wisest and safest way to do your essay the right way is to do your outline first. This will help you categorize the information and data needed in order to present the whole piece well. Your outline is considered as the backbone of your essay that will determine a very excellent writing piece. If you do your outline good then automatically follows coherence.
5. Grammar and punctuations. This is one of the most important factor that you need to master, your correct grammar and uses of punctuation marks. This is the simplest yet the most particular your readers are. You have to master your grammar especially the subject-verb agreement and the common shifts of tenses. Be particular in your choice of tone and voice as well as the use of accurate punctuation marks.
6. Have your writing style. Everybody is entitled to develop their unique writing style. Writing style is one thing you can call your own. Even great authors and philosophers can be identified thru their writing styles. You do not have to copy the great works, you can be as simple as you want in relaying your message and sharing what you know to your readers. The simpler it is, the more you can discover and develop the right style that will suit your taste.
7. Use of special expressions and literary words/ phrases. These are what you call idiomatic expressions. There are also special phrases that can help strengthen the content and style of your essay like that the use of hyperbole, comparison, simile, irony, etc. Be sure that you know how to use them on your sentences.
8. Sentence construction and spelling. Your sentence will be the basic thing you have to master in order to develop and write one excellent piece. Be precise and direct in all your ideas, be specific in describing things, places and persons, and learn the correct sentence construction. Basically, you can choose four basic sentences like that of declamatory, imperative, exclamatory and interrogative. Either of these, if you know how, will contribute to writing a good essay.
9. Develop an interesting beginning or what you call the "lead paragraph." You lead paragraph is what automatically follows after your title. You have to give a gist of what your story is all about but not everything about it, just a bit of it. If possible, create a "curiosity attitude" amongst your readers upon reading your lead in order to keep them readers on and on til the last word. This is the secret to enhancing such a good reader-writer relationship.
10. Last, give it a good ending. Your ending will be your deciding paragraph, the summary view of your whole piece. At this point try to be extra objective in your whole essay and get into your readers the real thing on everything about your piece. This is the deciding and ending point so make that excellent and lasting impression that will keep them up-beat in looking forward to your next piece.
So there you go friend, simple yet very helpful tips for you to start one excellent essay.
Happy writing! ;e)
