I think you're right on but I heard that they're also alcoholics and are forced to work in sweat shops.

Actually I think that Santa is the one with the racket. Cheap labor, no benefits other than a roof over their heads, stupid looking mass produced "costumes" that come in one size fits all, and as far as food goes, how much does an Elf eat? Plus Santa gets all the credit, he works one day out of the year! Talk about having it good, the Elves do all the work.

They are elves not midgets. They obviously like the cold climate, free food and lodging. I hear that Mrs. Claus has a thing for Elves too.

No, they're Yamsters that shaved themselves bald and are passing for midgets in order to do penance for their misdeeds in wrongfully suspending people with a sense of humor from Yahoo Answers.
Instead of running off to join a convent or monastery, they decide to become elves. Haven't you noticed how the Yamster's ears look just like the elves' ears at the North Pole?
And, that way, nobody recognizes them and seeks revenge. After all, how can any of us know what the Yamster would look like if we shaved him bald.
Except for the tattoo over his @ss that says "Violate this" we'd never know that he had anything to do with Yahoo.

No, they are all crack heads, don't you watch Robot Chicken? Didn't you see the episode where the Yeti they were using as a mule had the balloons full crack explode in his stomach and he went insane and killed all those action figures at the Miami airport?!?!
