I'm going to Kalavrita the weekend before christmas, then I'll spend christmas day with my parents in Athens, then I'll go for new year's day to Kyparissia to see my nephews...

From your point of view it would be abroad, but I'm staying at home in England this year, usually go to Holland where my father lives but he's coming over to us this year.

I'd like to go to the philippines. Oh well, maybe next year :)
So I'll be staying at home, enjoying the 5 days of vacation I've been saving for it.

Staying in Greece at home - used to go back to UK when I was single - but now with 2 kids of my own - this is their Christmas. I say AT HOME because last night the news was about how expensive the hotels are in Greece (on the mountains) for Christmas. Arachova wants 160 euro a night!!!! It's cheaper to go to USA for Christmas - Greece is so expensive in winter on the mountains. They have such a short 'money grabbing' period that they really 'touch your bum' - or to say it in English 'rip you off!' It's a shame as it's really great in the mountain villages - we went to a few last year - loaded with our winter gear which would have made the Yeti jealous - only to be greeted with brilliant sunshine - so it was no coats and snow boots (didn't take normal shoes) We went to Monodendri - I stood at the edge of the gorge YIKES didn't realise it was so deep. Anyway gone off question - will be in Greece but will be eating a fully fledged English Christmas lunch with all the trimmings!
Wow - 10 thumbs down for saying what I will do and where I will be at Christmas .... Don't you like Christmas lunch - English style? You don't know what you're missing - or was I wrong for saying the mountain villages (although lovely) are too expensive - Or did I insult the Yeti???? Strange lot of people!
