Yes, I use one quite often. If you live in an area where it is dry, or it is a cold Winter, you need one for health and for your wood furniture. We had one on our furnace, and when the kids were young, we had a portable one in their room to prevent croup. We had one going when they had colds or the croup. It keeps the air passages moist and thus, open. Also, when you live in a cold climate, your wood furniture tends to dry up, so a humidifier keeps the wood from drying. I rarely use one in the summer.

If humidity is too low
Low humidity causes static electricity, dry skin and hair, and itching and chapping. Mucous membranes in nose and throat dry out, increasing your discomfort and susceptibility to colds and respiratory illness.
You may also experience nose bleeding.
With low humidity levels, body moisture evaporates so quickly that you feel chilled even at higher thermostat settings. Adding a humidifier to your home will remedy these problems.
How to Gauge Indoor Humidity Return to top
Drop three ice cubes into a glass, add water and stir. Wait three minutes. If moisture does not form on the outside of the glass, the air is too dry; you may need a humidifier. (Do not perform this test in the kitchen, because cooking vapors may produce inaccurate results.)
Frequent fogging of windows may indicate too much humidity. The appropriate relative humidity will allow only slight condensation along the lower edges or corners of windows. More condensation could be damaging.
Moisture buildup or mold on closet walls or room ceilings and walls indicates high humidity.

Did you ever get a bloody nose during the Winter Time for no apparent reason?
Humidifiers keep the air in your home from getting too dry during the Winter. Bloody noses and overly dry skin may be side effect of not using a humidifier during the winter.
Cheers!

I use them all the time. It gets very dry when the heat is on - so I use the humidifiers to add humidity or moisture to the air. â¥

Forced-air heat has little or no humidity in it, and your body needs humidity. Without it, we get sore eyes, sore throats, sinus problems, all kinds of thing. I use a humidifier all winter long.

Using one right now. Mine's a lot cooler than the one I had as a kid. This one has little floating plastic fish and a blue night light.

I still use one in my sons room. He has weak blood vessels in his nose and if the air is too dry he gets lots of bad nosebleeds.

I use it and my kids use it when we have colds. It puts moisture in the air to ease the throat and make it easier to breathe.
