I've been working with a nice guy for the last month and until last friday I didn't notice he was gay.

I feel so embarrased because I asked him if he has a girlfriend and when he talked about his friend brian I only thought they were friends and nothing more.

I feel ashamed of the stupid things I've said (like so cool you two are such good friends, or when he showed me a photo and I asked him if that girl was his gf.).

I want my gaydar fixed!

ps: I work with 3 gay guys, I could identify 2, the other one caught me offguard.

ps: don't get me wrong I don't discriminate, I would just like to know in order to avoid embarrasing moments.

Natalia, that is an excellent question.

The problem is that your gaydar needs to be recalibrated due to today's modern metrosexual movement blurring the boundaries between gay and straight men.

By recalibrating your existing gaydar, you can save thousands$$$ over buying a new one.

Don't worry about it. If he has any class at all, he hasn't thought twice about it. Gaydar isn't as necessary nowadays as it was. With homosexuality being as accepted as it is (although we still have a way to go) being able to determine who is gay is not needed. You don't need to be embarrassed.

There's no shame in letting one slip by. Men are getting so groomed and so pretty these days it's not as easy as it used to be. Additionally, they're not an homogenous group and don't all fit neatly into one category. Sometimes, you just won't know right off and that's ok.

There is nothing to be embarrassed about, You can't be expected to know that someones gay or not, and the ones you don't "quess" correctly are used to the questions.

I dont think theres anthing embarrasing there!! It would have been even more so if he was straight and you called him gay! But dont worry about it, you didnt know, now you know so just carry on as normal!!

we all can get caught off guard at times,
we're not always on 'our game' so to speak,
distracted with other things,
i've missed the signs to my own house before. ;)

don't worry about it, i'm sure he's not.

aww....you wanted to ask him out.

it is hard to tell sometimes...some individuals have become so good at hiding it around certain people, and in certain situations...and despite what most people think not all are "flamboyant" or "butch".
