Please define exactly what you mean by "blasphemy".

Recently Kathy Griffin made a statement to the effect that "Jesus had nothing to do with this" in regards to her winning an award. People said she was blasphemous, but if she does NOT believe in Christianity (what if she is Jewish?) then by saying what she thinks she can NOT be blaspheming anything - its only IF she believes and says something against it, but if you believed why would you say anything against it? I think even the concept of blasphemy should be dead and gone, but there are still too many religious fanatics in the world keeping this outmoded concept alive. I don't believe in Christianity any more - I've read too many history books and understand how the religion started, and why it developed into what it is today - a distortion of history. Am I committing blasphemy because I say what I actually believe even though it conflicts with what believers think? They might think so - I don't - I think I am telling the truth and it is they who just don't get it - to me, THEY are blaspheming the truth.

Yes, the person that blasphemes and the diety they blaspheme against are both victims.
