i have a degus and this is the first one what can i feed him and what can i do to make him at ease...

WORD OF WARNING - Research has been done showing that these animals get diabetes when they get too fat, the older ones will be more prone to this than the young. They can also get cataracts and bone problems. all of which can cause fertility problems and may prove fatal. So don't over feed. if they finish their bowl full of food then you are probably giving them the right amount. it is also a good idea to miss a feed every now and then. They need companion ship as they are very social animals. The females love having a female friend when they have a litter. Some people recommend to have one male and two females kept together, even after they have a litter.
They need guinea pig food, fruit every other day, peanuts, etc.

A mix of chinchilla and guinea pig pellets. Degus cannot produce their own vitamin C so you need to supplement. Guinea pig pellets have lots of vitamin C.
