I assume that he is ONLY running the game ?

i.e. all other windows are closed, all unwanted services stopped ...

Then, assuming it's a 'real' problem (a lot of software has no idea what's gone wrong), it's simply running out of 'swap' (virtual memory) space .. unless you have been fiddling with the value, I would guess you are running out of free disk space .. you need to free up some hard disk space

Fitting more RAM might also help.

Check on the Security settings in IE. ( In Tools, Internet Options, Security) You may have them set too high, so stopping some things loading. Check on Privacy as well. Many sites need to load a cookie before they can log you in.

you need to increase the virtual memory:

right click on my computer and go to proporties
Advanced tab
Performance section, click settings
go to the advanced tab,
at the bottom it should say virtual memory
click on change
and set it to recommended.

i recommend putting the initial as double your RAM size and the Max size as double that.
