i had downloaded updates for my avg then this error showed up that says RESIDENT SHIELD NOT LOADED.
what will i do to load the shield?

restart your pc, if that dosent work, uninstall the program and reinstall.

Some how your Resident Shield became corrupted. The simplest way to trouble shoot this problem is just to uninstall this version of AVG and then install the latest version which of course is free. Trouble shooting problems with AVG can be a nuisance at best and it would probably save you a headache just by reinstalling the entire program.

I had the same problem trying to use AVG with Vista Home Premium. I downloaded the newest version of AVG, trashed the old version, and did a fresh install, not an upgrade, of AVG. It works fine now and resident shield is active.

There is an option somewhere to enable it. Click where it says that it isn't enabled and click on the properties and see if there is an option to enable it.
