I am currently only at 8% next month after a few things are paid off it will go up to 11%. I still feel like this is not enough. How much are you saving?

This is after taxes and 401K.

anything you save is good. the more the better.

make sure that you max out your 401k program or AT LEAST the matching part.

It depends on your income. However, everyone should be saving at least 10% of gross income.

I save about 50% - but it has taken a long time to get there.

You need to pay yourself first. EVERY month.

Make savings a game. Get the whole family involved.

Research Warren Buffett. The 2nd richest man in the world, drives himself (a regular car) and lives in a modest home.

A lot of people buy things to make them feel good and that they are moving on up. I promise you, being able to pay your bills in full everymonth and not having to worry about money is the BEST feeling in the world. I have also found that if you have money in the bank, you start to look at purchases in a whole new way. Do you need them, etc.

My wife asked if we should get a LCD TV on black friday. We figured out that the old 10 year TV was ok and we "saved" a couple of thousand of dollars. We could have afforded it and paid cash, but why? Just to have a bigger TV that we don't watch that much anyway?
