It seems to me like Bush isn't very popular at all with the American people nowadays..Actualy he's very likely the most unpopular president in US history..I live in Texas and I can tell you there are tons of people here who loved Bush and voted for him but I have yet to run across one who still loves him and would still vote for him..Then I get on Yahoo answers and every Bush question on here seems to be flocked to by people that love Bush and think he's great (for whatever inconcievable reason) but I really don't think it's real cause I know lots, tons of people and none of them like, or support him anymore..Since the recent events while he's been in office..Can someone please explain to me why they would support him cause I can't think of anything he's done thats good and he seems to be a huge disaster to our America..

Zinger:

You're not serious? You need to read more.

Most sensible people do not criticize how Bush handled 9/11. That really has nothing to do with the main point. After invading Afghanistan, he should have REBUILT that country to win hearts and minds and then had a standoff with Pakistan over whether or not they would "allow" us to go into their mountain regions and get Bin Laden.

Pakistan will not allow US Special Forces into the BIn Laden region. And we stand back and give them $10 Bil in aid since 2001.

$10 bill to house a murderer? That is criminal. And also, you don't think Haliburton said "not much to rebuild here", give us a place where we can make billions in contracts and spur the economy? War spurs the economy.

NOT going into Iraq. Nothing turned out true.

The point is not 9/11. We invaded Iraq 1.5 years later. Bush and his Administration lied to us:

1) NO WMD
2) NO link to 9/11 or Al Qaeda
3) Not treated as Liberators
4) Democracy not taking hold or transforming region
5) Not a deterrent to Iran!

Like I said, it is time to stop blaming people or rubbing their noses into their 2004 vote. And time to forget other politicans who really have no impact on this topic.

Clinton, Kerry, Gore, no one has done these things; it's been George Bush and it's a disaster. We need to move forward.

He is far from being the most unpopular U.S. president ever, though he has beaten out Nixon as the most unpopular since Truman. Many people like Bush because he plays to the image of America as Rich and Powerful. The War in Iraq cost $10,000,000 an hour, and the national debt is going up at a rate of $1.5 billion a day, and the money is largely coming in "loans" from China, but his supporters, like Reagan's, assume government money is free and don't think about the fact that sooner or later the bill will come due.

People still support him because they believe he is doing the right thing for the country. Now whether this is true or not is matter for history. I no longer support Bush because he did not accomplish many of the goals which he campaigned on that I supported. On every issue except Homeland Security and the War on Terror Bush has a habit of immediately caving at the first sign of dissent for his policies. People laud this man as a leader. Frankly I just don't see it.

Note: Most unpopular President in history is subjective at best. Abraham Lincoln was very unpopular in his day and is now revered as one of the best Presidents. It is hard to know how history will judge a man in the end, but rest assured that political sentiment of the day usually does not play into the final reckoning.

Just another view from a fellow Texan :)

First, I think he is doing OK under very difficult circumstances. I wonder how many Presidents you have paid attention to? Most unpopular in history is a pretty broad statement made with, I would guess, a very limited historical perspective. Since he can't run again, what point is the "Would you vote for him again?" question. How many would have honestly said they would have voted for Clinton again?

What is a disaster? He has done lots of good things. Stop listening to your Bush hating Liberal friends or teachers.

Am I better off than 8 years ago? Hell yes. Just BEFORE Bush was elected the first time, I got laid off with 1300 other people from my plant during the strongest economy in 40 years. What did we make? Class 8 commercial trucks (that's your big rig). No one was buying. Interest rates were up, freight was down, trucking companies were going belly up by the thousands. Our company was the last major truck manufacturer to lay off people, too. Yet there was no mention of it in the news. Chrysler lays off 200 people and it makes the top of CNN. Freightliner, Volvo, Mack, International. Peterbuilt and Kenworth lay off thousands, not a peep. It was a huge indicator of the approaching recession but it was totally ignored in the news leading up to the election between Gore and Bush. Why do you think that was?

I have not seen a reason why anyone should be voting for Bush. I asked my coworkers this same question, and they could not tell me a valid reason of why they voted for Bush. This bothers me because this tells me that there are huge amounts of people voting blindly. A lot of people are voting for a party because their parents, grandparents, and great grandparents did. This method of voting is wrong, because candidates change along with time. America as a hold needs to open their eyes and look at past records of these candidates. Remember: Some of these candidates’ decisions are hurting the American people and they do not care. Like President Bush, he could care less about the lives of your sons and daughters. War is not the only method of protecting America. One method would be to limit and screen the amount of foreigners that you are allowing to enter into this country, and bring the troops home to be sure that we have them here to protect the country just in case another country decides they want to attack us.

Both parties have a base of folks that will vote the party-line no matter what and will also wave the flag of that party no matter who their leaders are.
Personally, I voted for Bush the first time with a good heart and the second time because Kerry was so disingenuous. Also, I could not see the 'ketchup lady' as a first lady to say the least.
If Bush would have just stayed with the war in Afghanistan to focus on eliminating the rule of the Taliban then I believe things would be so much better. Sometimes I wonder about our leaders and our foreign policy going back to the days of Kennedy. For some reason they pay no attention to history and I guess they feel they can change things because this is the U.S. of A. which is just plain stupid. I mean Iraq was sub-divided into regions of different people that have hated one another going back to B.C. (i.e., before Christ). In this regard Bush didn't have a clue as to the mess he was getting us into with Iraq and people now realize this. Hence, his rating has hit rock-bottom.
However, on the other side of the coin and this p*sses me off with the media, no democrat has offered one statement as to what they would have done given 9-11. They just b*tch. Unless the US gets off its duff and quits catering to the oil industry by finding alternative fuels then I believe the lifestyle in this country is at peril. I mean the middle class is already disappearing with our immigration policies and now foreign policies are putting the nails in the coffin.

It's not how much good you do.

It's how much bad you don't do.

The Clinton Administration supported organised crime. Welcomed donations from Chinese crime lords who got thier money in part from child prostitution.
Sold many military/technological secrets to China.
Lied to the nation many times.
Had DOZENS of aids KILLED in order to protect the interests of the Clinton Administration.
etc
etc.

Sure we're in a war, but to be honest at the time most of us wanted it.

Now I think Bush is horrible. Clinton worse.

And our only hope is Ron Paul. Pres '08, hope for America.

Have you heard of people that get paid to post supportive things about certain politicians? Yeah, it happens all right...not just with Bush, but with all of them of both parties. They get paid a dollar or more for each positive post, depending on lenghth & content. I happen to know one of those people...Politics sucks! I guess the only way to find out is when the votes are in...that is, if many of them are not paid for as well.

face it, two days after 911, the entire country loved him with a 89 per cent approval, so why did he follow the same rules and notes of lyndon b. johnson, when he kept stairing at the picture of president franklin d. roosevelt?
why did he even bother to keep the united nations open?,why didn't he invoke the full draft with no exclusion?, why didn't he declare thearticles of war?, why didn't he mobilize this country, since we were attacked internally?, why didn't he set in motion to creat a public works to repair schools and rebuild new orleans?
