Please do not write anything vulgar or obscene. Let's try to keep it clean, funny, and tasteful. Thank you and Happy Holidays to everyone! Hope you all don't receive any unusual gifts this year.

I feel for the ones that have put down the unusual gifts they have received. Luckily for me I have not received any unsual presents, but I am sure if my husband reads the list he will more than likely buy me an usual present. Honey, if you are reading the list just know I will pay you back! LOL!

This is just cracking me up! I would like to have been there to capture the look on your faces when you opened the presents with a camera. Priceless! This might sound unusual to some people, but I would like new cookware for Christmas. I like to cook for my family and yes my husband makes the best Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. May you all have a happy holiday filled with peace, love, and joy throughout the New Year!

I am just amazed at what people think are great presents to give to family or people in general.

You poor people. I feel for you! If you were my friend or family I would try to get you something you wanted or at the least a gift certificate if I wasn't sure.

I am sitting here at the computer reading all these unusual Chritmas gifts and I must say I can't quit laughing! Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings, but you have to admit if you read down the list you will find it funny. You people are awesome for being honest and letting me know your answers. Keep up the great work and I will continue to laugh about this for a long time.

I am the oldest of three children, now 54 years old. When I was very little, just walking, I went into the bathroom and climbed on the toilet one day and took my father's razor from the back of the toilet where he kept it. I wanted to be like him, so I started shaving. This was not a safety razor, but the kind that flips open that barbers sometimes use to get a really close shave.

The bathroom was a mess with blood. I had relatively few cuts considering, but I did have one that left a bad scar under my right eye. (Managed to miss either eye).

My Dad was horrified when he found out what had happened and felt terrible. He was a good and decent man and died 4 years ago. If the subject ever came up he would always admit what a mistake it was for him to have kept it there, but didn't realize how little ones can get into things.

The first Christmas after he had died, my Mom gave me this razor, the razor with which the incident happened. I didn't know he still even had it! For some reason that is a very special Christmas gift because it represents what a really good parent he was, even though parents can make mistakes. And the fact he was so remorseful that the incident happened will always tell me how much he loved me.

This one probably did not make you laugh, but you have to admit it is an unusual Christmas gift.

Most Unusual Gifts

and when watching family movies I have discovered I was such a cry baby when I was younger, even though I received such wonderful gifts, it reminds me of how much I have grown.
But I really do dislike it when people are thoughtless and buy you horrible gifts.

I always buy gifts for my closest friends, and on the last day of school before Holiday Break we have a gift exchange. I have a great friend I am really close to, and I bought her a long, beaded necklace, out of the friend circle I was the only one without pierced ears therefore all of the gifts she gave to our other friends were earrings, she gave be a brown paper weight. Not that it was practical, but she could at least have bought be a gift that I could use or was in the norm of what the others received, I don't even have a paper weight collection or use them. But it's made out of marble, and I use it for decoration, it was the thought that counted.

At a company christmas party I attended about 10 years ago, the "gift" to employees (they had cut out the regular check bonuses that year) was something that I at first thought was an oversized tacky christmas ornament that maybe the boss' 6-year olds had made. The most godawful thing you ever saw...It was an odd spherelike piece about the size of a softball (much too big to hang on a tree), this flimsy silverish-white thing with what looked like a sleigh scene on it, mediocre art at best. Turned out it was supposedly some kind of alcohol lamp. Of course, no fuel can was provided with it. Now honestly, who really uses those things any more, and what exactly were we supposed to fill it with? It's not like you see alcohol lamp fuel sold in any common store you go into these days. I'm sure that even if we could have found fuel for it, it would have cost a lot more than whatever they'd spent on these "gifts". I tossed the thing in the dumpster the moment I got home from the party, and later found out that at least half the company did exactly the same thing. Incidentally, the CEO who had arranged the whole party was fired a few months later :)

One year, my husband's brother and sister n law asked me what I wanted for Christmas. We have a $25 limit, so I told them they could get me a gift card to the local bookstore since I love to read. I thought the whole month, I can't wait to go shopping for books, I was actually looking forward to getting something from them, that was for me. You know instead of them just throwing some crap in the buggy and sticking a bow and my name on it (from a $5 electric blanket, that came unraveled, to a $10 food chopper that blew sparks when I plugged it in). Well guess what, I opened my box and found a turtleneck! Would have been great if I had ever worn a turtleneck around them for the last 10 years I had been with my husband! Geez, why even ask.

A funny story I have is when my nephew was about 4, he was so excited Christmas morning like all kids. He was tearing presents open and clapping and hollering, well he go to one present and ripped it open and said, "Oh its what I always wanted, then a second later he said, what is it"? Talk about a memory.

Happy Holidays!

What a creative question, and one that brings everyone to reminisce the joys of Christmas, even though we are discussing awkward gifts.

I'm currently a teenager, and when watching family movies I have discovered I was such a cry baby when I was younger, even though I received such wonderful gifts, it reminds me of how much I have grown.
But I really do dislike it when people are thoughtless and buy you horrible gifts.

My family Christmas Eve's, when the presents are opened and the festivity occurs, are quite small due to having family spread out in different countries. Only my close family (Mom, Dad, 2 sisters, and Fatherly Grandparents) come. My grandparents have a strange pattern involving giving crappy gifts one year, and great gifts the next, so on and so forth. Unfortunately three years ago it was crappy gift year, I remember receiving a plastic wrist watch with a broken latch and a metallic turquoise sweater with sequins of the collar and a tacky (lets not forget itchy) t-shirt with Mona Lisa printed upon it various times, lucky next Christmas was better.

My family also went through a period of time of little money, except for my grandparents due to them being the wealthy of the family. During that years Christmas my grandparents were not in the country, and I was only celebrating with my immediate family. Due to being short on money I received 1 CD demo containing three songs from my favorite artist at the time- Shakira and a 9,99 Double CD set of OSD Bridget Jones Diary, fortunately it was a mix of artists. I also received underwear, a coin wallet in the shape of a pig that I love, and a shirt, sweater, and pant outfit (Tri-item discount). Even though the item were somewhat practical and not what I needed it reflects upon the hard times we have gone through, and today we have no more money problems, we survived easily.

Early Happy Holidays- Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The christmas when I was 20 had to have been the year where everyone got together and decided to give me weird stuff. My grandmother gave me a nintendo game ...you know for the original nintendo!...Seems she thought that since I'd loved my nintendo when I was 10 that I still would be thrilled about that. (I didn't even have the system anymore!) My husband (who was a new boyfriend at that point) gave me the most godawful shirt. It was a black tshirt with a picture of this giant head that looked like a rotting zombie! And it was a mens XXL....I'm 5'7 and only weighed about 115 so not only was the shirt hideous but I could have used it as a tent! Just what any 20 yr old wants! (we still don't know what he was thinking with that! lol) His mom gave me the free gift that comes with Estee Lauder stuff. I'd have been fine with that except for the fact that every bit of the makeup had been used! GROSS!!!! Oh and she gave me a giftcard to Olive Garden but when we went to use it there was only 38 cents on it! And then afterall these lovely gifts my best friend who I love dearly and who always gave me really cool stuff gave me a vibrator! In front of his entire family and in front of my boyfriend (now husband) I was so embarrassed and my husband was mad as hell! I was so glad when Christmas was over that year!
