The ruling elite have decided to move the nation towards fascism and the Bill of Rights needs to be dismantled for that to happen.

For the same reason that Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus during the civil war. Extreme circumstances requiring extreme measures. But unlike that act, the Patriot act does not manifestly violate the bill of rights (but does open the door to do so). Most of the patriot act is about taking down the wall between intelligence services and law enforcement. This has allowed the sharing of vital information that has thwarted possible attacks. So we need most of the reforms in the Patriot act. But we also need people to fight portions of it every step of the way.

In what way specifically did it violate the bill of rights? That's why there is a supreme court--to rule on the constitutionality of laws the congress passes. The patriot act is not the first law passed by congress that has had aspects of it ruled on by the high courts--and i'm sure won't be the last. I fail to see how this is moving america towards facism except in the minds of some deranged liberals. For over two hundred years the checks and balances of our system of government has worked--any particular reason the patriot act is something special. (Much of the patriot act is a simple extension of RICO powers (organized crime) to organized terrorism-which is rather logical.)

The constitution allows the president more latitude in time of war. (By the way, we are at war!)
The president and congress needed to decide if national security out weighed individual rights. They can reverse there decision at the next re-authorization of the Patriot Act if they so choose.

My concepts are that it truly is imbalanced, it purely argues the wrongs of those guidelines, i'm a liberal and consider all of it, yet contained in the interest of writing an outstanding paper, it desires to grant the different aspects motives for doing so, then disputing it with an theory.

To prepare us for their actual agenda of total dismantling of the Constitution and the creation of the North American Union.
The collection of intelligence in order to target those most troublesome to their plan, and incarcerate them in the detention camps that the International Corporate Fascists have used our tax $ to build.

You think the people you vote for care about that? They are there for there own personal reasons, not to defend the bill of rights.

because they prayed on the mass hysteria of the American public and knew if the public would have been more aware of what was going on with their civil rights that they would not go along with it.but they also knew that so many people were paranoid about the fact that the towers were crashed into and there for they played upon that fact and passed the law before any one was aware of the fact that they now could do illegally search and seizure

Different times call for extreme action. I don't have a problem with it if it saves one life from a terrorist. What are you hiding?
