For me, a little of both, I think.

My imagination has helped me think outside the box and to be brave enough to try something new.

It has also scared away people who don't think outside the box! I have a wildly vivid imagaination.

My imagination along with creativity has been a definite asset. Take for instance, at work I was able to build a program from the ground up with imagination and creativity. Well, of course, some people thought me weird, but the outcome made a difference for many people. When I think about it, the dream came first, and imagination carried it through.

I think my imagination has helped me a lot. I imagined how I wanted my life to go, then worked to make sure it happened. It always surprises me when someone says I'm "lucky" because I live in the mountains and have a pretty nice life. It wasn't luck, it was hard work. But I wouldn't have worked that hard if I couldn't have imagined it.

I can't imagine my life without the flights of fancy I have taken on imagination alone...in fact, they are probably the primary reason that I am still sane today--being able to escape the horror of my actual life for short periods by living vicariously in my own imagination--something I no longer do much of, today.

But I can see where you say that it has been partly hindrance as well, because I have a very real idea of just who my "ideal man" would be, and no man I have met since my divorce has measured up to that! Don't get me wrong, I am not looking for perfection! Just someone who would be perfect for me!!

I have an incredible imagination. Sometimes this makes me clever and articulate. I have better common sense and intuition than other people. I'm artistic and usually succeed at things I really want. However, it can go the other way and I also suffer with extreme anxiety, and on occasions psychosis. I am so sensitive I often see things others don't and get paranoid and worried about them. My imagination also creates hypothetical fears. So I can be really happy and confident one minute, and depressed, angry or scared the next. It just depends what I'm imagining.

It's helped in many ways - particularly in creating my home environment and a place of refuge. It also is an asset when I read...as I conjure up all sorts of images with the written word that makes my reading all the more enjoyable.

It has not hindered my life...but my imagination places me in venues I know I probably never be able to attain...:-(

Definitely helped tremendously. Especially when I was most financially challenged while raising children.
There were times we made a holiday and decorations and a wonderful meal out of almost nothing.
With imagination there are no limits!

Necessity is the mother of invention and imagination sure helps with the inventing part. I would have been lost without my abilities to create things from my imagination. So it helped me for sure.
