www.cooldrives.com has plenty of options.
Or if you can still find them Maxtor made ATA100 PCI cards that will add 2 IDE ports to the system.

There are external USB CD drives, DVD drives, Hard Drives and Floppies available. They work well (even with USB 1.1 usually) and are normally very easy to install. You can purchase them as a complete unit, or get an enclosure and add your own drive into it. (Useful if you are like me and do a lot of computer repair work, so always have somebody's hard drive from which I need to recover data. That way I can change drives regularly).

I currently have a 500gig external hard drive and an external DVD burner that I keep attached to my laptop's docking station all the time. Plus a floppy I can add if needed.

i could recommend that if a channel is going to be shared between a puzzling disk and a CD/DVDcontinual, the puzzling disk is the carry close and the opticalcontinual the slave, tremendously in case you opt for to run an operating gadget (Vista) from the 2d disk. or you are able to placed 2 puzzling disks on the first cable and use the secondary for optical drives. As on your 2d question, once you boot out of your Vista DVD and run by the setup application you would accept the alternative to opt for which puzzling disk or partition to load Vista onto. in the course of installation a boot menu will be setup that you are able to enable you opt for which gadget to load anytime you start up the computing gadget.
