I mean we all know marriage can be the pits - but does the shift in hormones, moodiness, and physical changes (facial hair and other bodily changes) put a strain on relationships?

It can. It depends upon the severity of various "symptoms" and how both the woman AND the man deal with them.

When one party in any relationship changes greatly, there is always a strain on the relationship. It is not the changes in appearance, but the changes in attitude that put the serious stain on the relationship.

In many cases, mood swings are a major problem! It is almost like you are dealing with a whole different person! Every woman here is going to blame the man, for not adapting and accepting the mood swings and attitude.

I know guys who have ended up sleeping in the office just to get a little peace!!

It actually depends on the man and how much he loves his wife. Menopause is nothing to laugh at. I should know because I have early bouts of it. Some men just don't realize the effects of raging hormones in a woman. Is it ok for a guy to rant and rave and then let a woman have a bad day and all heck breaks loose? I think not, but I'll tell you I get tired of my hubby telling me it is my hormones if I am just mad and not going through the effects of early menopause. It is hard enough at times being a woman much less having your hubby tell you it's your hormones. Men go through a mid-life crisis and I believe it is close in comparison to a womans hormones. I have been around women in my life that have gone through menopause and I will be honest to say that the husbands in their life treated them with kindness and respect, just loved them no matter what. They held them when they felt like crying and laughed with them when they had a good day. When a man can do that and still tell his wife she is a beautiful creature with or without hormones raging is tops in my book.

there are so many other things that put strain on a marriage. If facial hair puts strain on your marriage, then you never were a good husband to begin with!

If you can't tolerate the moodswings and body changes, that doesn't make you a good husband either!!

I bet the time will come, or has already where your pot belly, and lack of hair caused her to "gulp" but she put up with it and loved you anyways! You sound like a real pig to me for some reason!!

Did you see that episode of All In The Family where Edith went through menopause? She told Archie to stiffle! LMAO!

But seriously, it only becomes a problem if it's not addressed and feelings build up inside. Communication is the key.

Not with the right husband! Women are usually much more sexually charged during this time, so it's a great time for intimacy!
Sounds like you may have some hangups, do some research.
