Yes, the "average Joe" has never been represented by the Republican party. That's why I never understood why so many of them vote Republican. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Yes, the Republican Party has always been the Party of the elite. That's why they're for all the tax that cuts help the rich and break the backs of the Middle Class. Therefore many of the rich such as media mogul (Fox News, etc.) Rupert Murdoch will compile the money for the campaigns of the Republicans as he would like to continue paying that paltry sum on the billions he's worth. It's very unfair to average Americans. Democrats are more compassionate and caring for the problems of the common man. That's just the way it's always been in my lifetime and I've lived a while.

The Republican party is the party of the financial and business elite, that displays utter contempt in policy and practice for the lower and middle class people. While the Democratic party is the party of the the cultural and educational elite that at least sows meager crumbs of assistance and help to the lower and middle classes. I suspect that those wealthy Republicans can enlist all of the millionaires that they want and there will still be a major sweep in '08. While money is the power and the problem in politics, I think that sheer numbers will out due the money in '08, there is massive outrage and disgust with the current administration and it's policies.

Not all republicans are rich, however many of them are. you will not find many wealthy people who are democrats. The democratic party is generally the working mans party, and those in need. The Christians like the republicans because they dont like abortion, or homosexuality. And the republicans have typically protected the wealthy from paying excess taxes. I wouldnt call the parties those of the haves and have nots, but maybe have too much, and have not enough.

It's easier if a candidate has his own millions to run, less fund raising needs done.
An article a couple days ago, on Drudge picked up from I think the AP or Breitbart, shows the Democrats have more wealthy members than the Republicans, but the Republicans typically raise more. The fund raising used to be pretty close until the McCain - Feingold campaign laws went in effect, limiting soft money. This bill pushed by the more liberal of both parties came back to haunt them. It has actually helped the Republicans in their fund raising. More individuals are donating to the Republicans.
If you look at the donations for both parties, you will see many of the same names and corporations, this keeps them in favor on both sides.

I truly believe the republican party
( Not All)
has its heart in the right place, they are always considering what is best for the American way of life.
Albeit over the last few years in the Bush administration very powerful people have been able to make the republicans look as though they are against the American people.
Not so for the Majority of the party. all parties will one day prove to everyone that they still are all American, just-as the Democrat's they too have in the last few years,
have gone power crazy,
with wanting to get into the white house, All parties want to win all the time but in order to do so they must be more honest in their every day doings

There enlies the whole problem with politics.....Money. Why is it that one must be rich or be able to raise millions of dollars to become president?Or any politicle office for that matter? If you really believe that the Republicans are the party of the elite...... Perhaps you should look up the worth of Democrats?Liberals. The difference is.....Republicans believe.Just because one is rich. That doesnt make them eveil. It just shows thier sucess. Dont you believe that you should keep the money you earn? Liberals on the other hand..... They believe that wealth should be transferd. If you are rich and sucessfull.....Then you should be punished and more of your money should go to those who dont know how or dont want to be sucessfull.....They believe (like liberals) That they are entitaled to thier BENIFITS. However Liberals dont want to pay for these parisites themselves......They want you and I to pay for it. Everything in this country evolves around the false God.....Money

the GOP is not a party of rich elitists. it is a party of people who generally believe that we are best served by individualism and hard work and self reliance as opposed to big government programs that govern too many aspects of our lives and hinder the desires and abilities of people and companies capitalist ideals. sadly, the previous congress forgot that they were elected to cut government spending and stay out of our lives as much as possible. people got mad and turned away. more sadly, they turned towards the party that lives to spend more and more, regulate more and more and play class warfare.

They have too huge followings. The rich, who like their capitalism policies and the Christians, that are there, mainly due to the other party's stances on abortion and gay rights. But they lose a lot of Christians because we cannot figure out how they can show such contempt for the poor and elderly and think that is right.
