What you're feeling are the physical effects of adrenaline, the so-called "fight or flight" reaction, and that's what gives you the "butterflies in your stomach" and breathless feeling.

Adrenaline redirects blood from the gut to the muscles and lungs, and dilates the airways so that energy and oxygen can be efficiently used to either fight against or flee from an enemy.

In our soft, westernised society, we no longer face these daily dangers and many have become unaccustomed to this feeling.

The first step in conquering your fear is to recognise these physical symptoms for what they are, and go ahead and do whatever it is that you are afraid of. Once you have conquered your fear a few times it gets easier and easier.

Alternatively, you can expose yourself to adrenaline in controlled situations, such as rollercoasters or bungee jumps.

If you are a bit braver, take up a full contact martial art, such as kyoku shin kai or goju ryu karate, cage fighting, or an adrenaline sport such as sky diving or paragliding.

If I'm on the clock... at work.... I suck it up and pretend that I'm totally confident to do the task.... (I work in the medical field....so I speak from experience)

If I'm on my own time....I weigh the consequences carefully. And if I think that what I have to do with benefit me or others and it would be a good thing to do.... I do it. If it's dangerous and might have a bad outcome...I don't do it. I do get physically sick in the stomach too, and my head pounds.

depends on what it is.. I suck it up thought and do what i have to do.. should be no reason for you to do anything that your scared of no one should ask you to do something that you dont wanna do something that your scared of, i know you parents wont ask you do do anything that your scared of, dont ever put your self in a situation where you feel "pressured" !

I used to nearly pass out like if I had to give a speech at school or something. I have long since learned that no one really gives a rip and I am fine with it unless it involves going up REALLY high like on a ladder or something! :o0

Both. I suck it up and do it, but that doesn't mean I'm still a little scared.

When I get scared to do something...

I "revel" and "excel" in doing it...

Give me more "scary" things to do...

Please...

(This world bores me out of my mind, sometimes...make me afraid, por favor...

...make me VERY afraid...I can handle it...)
