After you've confirmed that your baby has a strong heartbeat, what are the chances of miscarriage after that? Do they go down, up, or what?

I believe heartbeat is irrelavant, chances of miscarriage go down after 12 weeks, but are not completely gone until you are holding that baby

Good Luck

I have heard that after you hear a heartbeat, the chances of miscarriage do go down. However, I heard a heartbeat with my first and still miscarried. It wasn't normal though, it was only 92 at like 7 weeks. If the heartrate is normal, like 120-160 I think you're chances of having a normal baby are better--slow heart rates can be associated with Down's. Anyway, you're not out of the woods until after first trimester, then the odds go way down. I'm waiting right now for my second scan at 11 weeks--my first one the heart rate was 115, and we're worried again! Anyway, good luck!

Heartbeat is irrelevant...after your first trimester is when the chances greatly decrease but you will not be out of the hot water until the baby is actually born. Just make sure to go to your doctor when they schedule!!
