A democracy in Iraq is no lie. It is the the beginning of the end for Fundamentalist Islam. Liberty, self-determination, human rights and tolerance are no lie. We in the West have allowed this atrocity to exist for far too long. While I have many problems with President Bush regarding the handling of the war, I must give him a lot of credit for actually doing something about the conditions in the Middle East that permit and encourage the hopelessness and desperation that makes terrorism possible.

People with a future, people with hope cannot be turned into suicidal bombers. Only people for whom life has no purpose or meaning, only those who have nothing and no hope of acquiring anything, only those who live under the boot heel of tyranny, can be lead to believe that this world offers nothing of value. Only such hopelessly mislead people could be so deluded to believe that God wants them to kill, kill and kill some more innocent men, women and children.

We have been facing such people for many decades but ignored the problem. That lead to the attack on 9/11. Do not forget that many of those in Congress that have been attacking the President for taking decisive action may have died that day had the last plane not been brought down by the passengers. It may very well have been heading for the Capitol Building.

Depends on what you mean.

Do you mean the supposed lie about why we are really there? From the start people have been calling all sorts of reasons. Its funny, if they could really prove one of them, they wouldn't have all the other options as well.

Do you mean the current lies that are being put forward about the cost and performance of the US in Iraq? The completely fallacious trillion-plus dollar "estimate" being spouted by some Democrats? The lies about how we're not making progress or how things are getting worse there (while Baghdad looks the best it has in years and people are moving back in, and losses are at the lowest point in years as well)?

The answer to both those questions is the American people. They are the ones being lied to, their minds twisted by wrong information. They are the ones who are being led to vote for the people putting out such lies.

Maybe, just maybe, though its a long shot... the Democrats putting out all these lies will get caught and pay for it by losing an election.

Here's just one lie GWB has said to get the war started in Iraq:

"Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent.”

State of the Union Address – 1/28/2003

What a joke.

The recently kicked out prime minister of Australia and his defense minister stuffed up a while back by admitting that oil played a part in the Iraq war and that oil security is now a priority in the middle east. That is one of the many reasons he is no longer in office.

The Younger generation that is alive now and theyre children and grand children and great grandchildren. Not to mention the consequences beyond the cost in dollars. Which have totally sullied our reputation. We need to get back to having a Non interventionalist Foreign Policy.

What lie? There were WMD, Saddam was a genocidal dictator, Baathists were working AQ. The distortions have come from the anti-war (i.e. pro-defeat) lobby. All progressives should be backing the coaltion effort to rebuild Iraq and defeat the Islamist and Baathist reactionary and murderous forces.
