Or do you prefer to create your own book club?

No, never. I usually steer clear of anything she recommends. I want to be entertained when I read, not bored out of my mind. I've tried a few of her selections, but haven't been able to get through even one. So, now I just don't bother. We apparently don't have similar reading taste. Oh, and saying, "Yeah, but her's are on the best-seller lists" is not influential with me because of all the sheep that DO go out and buy it when she recommends it -- then they claim to like it because they thing they are supposed to.

No, most public libraries buy multiple copies of Oprah books and have them available so you don't have to buy it or wait for it. Your taxes have already paid for it there. Use that service. If you like the book so much after you have read it, then you can invest the money in a copy. I rarely buy books because I have such a good library, there is no point.

Depends. If it's a book that I might like I go to a bookstore and have a look at it, read the back and a few pages at the beginning. If I like it from there most of the time I will buy it. And I don't have a problem recommending or even lending books that I like to other people. Gotta share the wealth!

No to both questions, If I think that O's choice of reading looks interesting I will borrow from the library. So far I have not enjoyed her suggested books.
I am not interested in creating my own book club, I read for my own enjoyment and benefit, not really interested what anyone else thinks of my reading material.

No, I don't read what Oprah suggests - it mostly sounds depressing. I don't want a book club either. I want to read for entertainment. My sister and I share literary taste, mostly, so we share books, but we very seldom analyze what we've read.

i wouldnt buy it ryt away.... especially if it is expensive.... probably check it out first... ask other people's opinions, more professional ones, of course without having to read the spoilers...i hav to make sure if it's worth the money... oprah has her own opnion about things but i'm not going to disclose the fact that they could also be helpful.... i would probably see how many copies it sold too....
