When punk started in the 70's the punks and rastas got on very well due to the number of places they were not allowed to play. Rastas were seen as druggies and the punks were seen as violent although the reality was that these were in the minority. The gay community were also linked to the punk scene as they too were seen to be 'undesirables' They used to all play at the only venues that catered for people regarded as being just outside the confines of decent society so they all mingled and in some cases became part of the same scene. Also reggae is great!!

i suppose cause some of the later punk crossed into the Mod/new Wave scene, which had a lot of reggae type beats in it

Because we could draw parralells with the downtrodden in the 70`s plus i love reggae music

Reggae, ska and rocksteady have ties with the Oi/skinhead scene which is close to the punk scene.

They've mellowed. Punk doesn't age well.
