Or did he deserve it for educating the world as to the truths of political science and why decisions are made the way they are in Washington. He gives the "reasons" and answers as to why certain politicians vote the way they do and the behind the scenes back scratching.

Anyone can be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. In this case, Limbaugh's name was put forward by a group called Landmark Legal Foundation. It is not the nomination which matters, but rather who the prize is awarded to. Frankly the Nobel Peace Prize is a sham. Just look at the positions of many of the award recipients versus their real world deeds if you don't believe this to be true. It amazes me that an obvious anti-Semite like Jimmy Carter, or a terrorist like Yasar Arafat could actually win.

Westhill: You are confusing terms here. Your position would be correct when speaking of who is actually allowed to put forward nominations, as this is by invitation only. However, anyone can be nominated by those chosen groups of nominators.

He was nominated, by a front company that he himself is involved in...much like the multiple profiles in here who vote themselves "best answer".

"Landmark Legal
Foundation today nominated nationally syndicated radio talk show host Rush
Limbaugh for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize."

"Founded in 1976, Landmark Legal Foundation is the leading conservative
public interest law firm in the United States. Rush Limbaugh serves as an
unpaid member of Landmark's Board of Advisors."

EDIT: What's this; a thumbs down???
Did I offend someone by using FACTS?

He wanted to make the false point that anyone could be nominated. That is not the case, a small and select group including professors, world leaders and previous winners gets the nominating petitions.

It is also impossible to prove that he was NOT not nominated, so it was a safe lie. The list of nominees is kept secret for 50 years.

Pretty much anyone can get nominated for the Nobel. However only leftists (like Carter and Gore) and terrorists (like Arafat) win the prize.

Flush Rush- your "liberal" use of the terms educating, truths, political science are consistent with the inflammatory babble that spews from Rush's pie hole. Any nomination he may have (or not) gotten is a simplistic and transparent egocentric publicity stunt, he is merely an Entertainment Buffoon period.

You do realize that the Nobel peace prize is a Norwegian prize, right? Perhaps a better question would be why should the Norwegians care how some Americans may label them.

Nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize are completely open. Anyone can be nominated. I could nominate you. The nominations are irrelevant, it's who wins thats interesting.

Bozo the Clown can be nominated - he just won't win. Come to think of it, Rush is kind of Bozo-the-Clown like...maybe there's a chance.
