They planned 13000 but it's fast approaching one million, schools are cramped, housing associations cannot cope, and more and more babies are born. Was the government right to allow them in the country?

The government may be useless, corrupt and selfseeking but one thing they are not is lacking in intelligence. They knew exactly what would happen when we were forced to open our borders by the EU. Knew that we would be overrun by immigrants but that suits them down to the ground in many ways. The principal ones being the influx of cheap labour and the fact that these very grateful people will vote for them. It suits the EU because Britain has the cushiest benefits system and is therefore more likely to be the country of choice for the poorer and less skilled immigrants.People who have serious money are totally unaffected by this, in fact they stand to gain. It is the average citizen who suffers in every area of life as a result of this mass immigration and the real issues are not being addressed. There was a news item this evening about how the theft of metal eg, gratings, road signs and roofing lead has increased by 1000% in the last six months. They blamed the fact that the price for scrap metal had risen! Have we Brits all suddenly turned into criminals because the price has gone up? I could quote quite a few similar statistics but will not bore you. As a fellow concerned individual I would not insult your intelligence either. If they let Turkey join the EU I think I will do a Guido Fox, I have nothing against Turkish people or any people, I just don't want hundreds of thousands of them coming to live in this country. That is exactly what will happen, as this government is all too aware of, that they choose to ignore the serious consequences we have suffered thus far, to let them in is the equivalent of giving the"V" sign to the indigenous population. We must exit from the retirement home of ex and failed politicians, AKA "the gravy train" the EU. Restore our borders, kick out all illegals, all those who claim benefits. Scrap "working tax credits" for immigrants, that is why they can afford to accept c**p wages because the government (we the taxpayer) tops them up! Finally..... Any government, and they are all in cahoots, takes the long term view, they have a bigger and more sinister aim in mind. Any glance at political history will show you this, and we as a nation have yet to object! It is time we let those who profess to govern us, in our name, that they have been found severely lacking and show them the door. Wake up my country before it is too late, when a general election takes place write "none of the above" on your ballot paper. That should let them know, or vote UKIP, the only party that is committed to doing what the majority wants because they want it too.

First of all they don't have a damn clue on what is happening and are incompetent in their levels to control it. Second of all I think they vastly misrepresented this number to make it appear as if it wouldn't be so bad so that they could get away with it at the time.

The vast influx of eastern european immigrants has had a massively negative effect on Britain and is only going to get worse. (There have been many think tanks, yougov polls and so on recently which have agreed with what most people are thinking.)

There has been a massive strain on local housing, local NHS services (I'm a nurse and have first hand experience on that one) schools, etc like you said, yet noone is doing anything about it because to cry out about all these things is 'racist and against their human rights!!!' What a load of ********!!

The government certainly was NOT right to let them into the country, neither are they right to continually allow massive influxes of immigrants from any country here. This country is fast becoming a joke.

They did it on purpose or just simply bad and lax planning and laws. But some say a lot of developed countries are doing this "immigration" thing on purpose just to get cheap labor. They always say the same excuse that there's no one native in the country wanting to work certain kinds of jobs, but that's not true. The government and corporations just don't want to pay their own citizens well with benefits so they get immigrants to work those jobs thinking that they will go for any amount of pay as long as they get in the country. Exploitation as a result of globalization. And also governments not looking out for their own country and people anymore. That's what some believe.

They did it on purpose

Employers now can avoid spending money on training up local youngsters and paying them a good wage because they have a flood of ready skilled immigrants willing to do the job for £5.50 an hour. Saves them a fortune.

Property Developers have lots of demand for their properties because more people = more need for housing.

Business Owners and Property Developers are exactly the kind of affluent people this self-serving, bung hungry government want to suck up to.

Also more workers = more taxes. So the Government benefits immensely.

They didn't seem to realise that any money the migrants made here would be sent abroad, whilst the migrants put extra demand on our public services and job market.

When the working classes begin to struggle to find work and housing they simply tell us these people are "contributing to our economy", "doing the jobs we won't do" "have a better work ethic than us" and call us racists.

sadly, the government planned the influx of people, thinking it would boost the housing market (new people, new demand) and would also solve the problem of the pensions fiasco, in that the economy would be more productive. However they didn't bank on the money leaving UK economy and the people staying - causing the problem of not only the immigrants, but now their extended families and all the future generations. The money of course going back to their own countries while they use the infrastructure - schools, hospitals etc here.....

No the goverment was NOT right to allow them in!, where I live, which is Kingston upon thames area, the knock on effect is huge, its changed it tremendously.... we have doctors surgerys that have waiting lists now closed for forseable future, schools are over subscribed, housing is unataniable even in the private sector, let alone council, dentists are nearly non exsistant, only good if you can aford private... list goes on The labour goverment are not worried, they are aproving Turkey join the EU, I bet their first port of call for migrant workers from there will be the UK, we should chuck this lying cheating goverment (who live in their own little bubble and dont listen to us) out, why they hell they still in goverment?. We need revolution to happen, and this is NOTHING to do with racsiam before anyone starts on that.

Alf W - Your right about that, they blame it on the fact that British people dont want to do these jobs? we now this is Bull S****, My daughter who is at college, cant find a job at the weekends or evenings, because they are all taken up by migrant workers, shes been looking for over 6 months now, and its the same for all her friends, I hear the same story everyday, its all crap what the goverment say.

In order to make something different from the rest of the EU which was worried about these possible migrant workers.

Finally it doesn´t matter since British people will anyway blame the EU for choices their national politicians have made.

I would like on the top of that that Britain strongly supports Turkey to become a member of the EU...

The good logic and rationals of British politics (and citizens) belong to the past.

At the moment the government are planning huge reforms to force people of incapacity and onto jsa ,then people on jsa will have to do training courses to assist them in finding employment on the basis there is plenty of work out there.the problem is that most of the work is being taken by eastern Europeans at a fraction of the cost to employers.

we all said 'at the time' that there estimation of 13000 was ridiculous.( they knew it too.) i think the truth is, that they cannot get the British people to surrender sovereignty of Britain to the EU. so the only way to force the EU on to the British public is to water down their influence with voters that have no loyalty to the country and will vote for who ever lets them stay. the British public are actually being forced to pay extra taxes to meet the financial cost of their own demise. you have to quietly admire the labour party for the genius of their plan. and at the same time despise the British for not fighting. when a person can walk into your country and simply vote your opinion into oblivion then you have to ask yourself what am i doing to my childrens future......at the moment i have to say that the future for the indigenous population of Briton is starting to look pretty grim.
