Usually this is related to the adapter not getting a DHCP address from the router. Once you do get it open, is the address listed under the "support" tab an address issued by DHCP, or do you get an error and see all 0 0 0 0, or see "Manually Assigned". If you don't get an address, the "Connection Status is Unknown".

You may need to update the drivers for you wireless card, in many cases this is caused by the driver you have not supporting the security which the router provides.

Since you didn't say what router you are connecting into, if its not yours you may simply not have permission to use the connection. These days its not too unusual to see several available when you "View Wireless Networks" You want to be sure you are connecting to YOUR NETWORK which is why you want to change the SSID on your router -- so you can see the correct one! If you are attempting to connect to someone elses router, besides being illegal, you may simply NOT GET a connection!

Hope that helps and God Bless.

Try rebooting your computer, and router first. Has there been any changes to your computer?
