Yes, and more so than i used to, as I can now go and enjoy a beer without developing cancer. Always a good thing, avoiding cancer, I would say.....

Personally I don't think it has made much of a difference to the popularity of the pubs because all the pubs are in the same position, the only difference is the effort to which the pub has gone for the smoking area.
Pubs have also started to use fresheners and scented candles too because they need to cover up the general pub smells, like alcohol, sweat and gas. It's a little bit weird and off putting in some places but it's just a case of getting used to it.
I quite like the fact that now I go home not spelling like an Ashtray and I don't have to worry about breathing in all the rubbish that goes into the air.

Few people go and it has encouraged the wrong crowd in to pubs.
The smoking ban has caused hundreds of pubs to close, thousands of jobs losses, and one pub group reported a 17% loss in revenue, so many more places will close. People are not socialising anymore (the ban is anti-social) and more kids are drinking in pubs, drug/cocaine use in on the mega increase in pubs, and double the number of people are hanging around on the streets. The reminder of people are all drinking and smoking at home around their children! The goverment and police have never had any real control and have made things far worse.

The British government is doing the right thing to ban smoking in pubs. All British citizens can now breathe easily, especially children.
I have to confess, I am not British. I'm Australian. We are doing that same thing. Because Many Aussie die from smoking, most of them like late 20s.

I'm in Ireland, which was the first country to institute a smoking ban in all workplaces.
Intially I didn't think it would work, and that there would be problems with it, but I think that it has worked very well in most places. However, it would be even better if it wasn't so expensive to drink in pubs ....
But now you don't come home stinking of cigarettes, which I like. I have always disliked the smell of cigarettes.

I smoke and tho I thought the ban would be awfull its actually not all that bad at all. Alot of pubs have really gone out of thier way to accomadate smokers and its quite funny because all along we have been told how antiscial smoking is and yet the most social areas seem to be the smoking areas these days.

I went into a pub last weekend for the first time in ages and all I can say is it stank of stale beer, it was very quiet for a Saturday lunch time, I think the smoking ban has put a lot of people off going to pubs now.

I was against it i'm Scottish but live in England, Scotland had it about a year before England and I always said that it'd never work in England. It does though, the pubs smell nicer and so do you at the end of the night. It must have a health benefit which will become better known in say 10 years.

Most people moaned to start with, but they do prefer it on the whole!
Smoking is allowed outside, and tables, chairs, lighting and heating are provided, as are ashtrays, metal bins, etc.
This is of great benefit to smokers, as they aren't stopped from smoking, but it does reduce the amount, because they have to go out of the pub to smoke, so don't end up chain smoking!
I don't smoke but my eldest does, so when she visits me she has to smoke outside, and therefore smokes less than when she's at her house, lighting up all the time!
Better for everyone's health, pocket and the environment!

I think it's a great idea and I still go in the pubs - in fact I feel happier about it now I know that I won't be swamped by a load of smoke when I walk in. And they still seem to be popular.
