I want to increase intelligence in my 9 months old baby boy. Kindly suggest me any special food, game or any other activity which will increase or develop intelligence in my 9 months old baby boy.
Please tell me also the signs of intelligence so that I can baseline him.

The absolute best way to increase your baby's intelligence, happiness and security is to give him your time and attention. No food, game, TV show or other outside thing is as important to your baby as his parents. You are his universe. He will develop faster and better with your input than with anything else.

Talk to your baby as much as you can. Tell him what you're doing. He is absorbing language and information at a rate that will never be equalled for the rest of his life, so encourage him. Just basic things like "now we're getting into the car - let's put you into your seat - let's fasten then belt to keep you safe - let's put on your hat to make your head nice and warm." Then later on, "We need to go to the store for milk and bread - what did I say we needed to buy, can your remember? Can you point to the milk - where do we need to go to find the bread?"

Sing songs and say rhymes because rhyme and rhythm help children to get a grasp of language. Read to him at bedtime and before his nap. You can use any kind of books, the sound of your voice is what will work best for him and make him remember things.

Start working with him on improving hand/eye co-ordination - games, toys, bricks and so on, but also helping you store things in boxes, wrap parcels and shelve books. Everyday activities help him learn how to judge volumes, weights and shapes as well as fancy games and toys.

Take him out of doors for regular exercise. Playing games together helps him in so many ways - learning about rules and co-operation as well as getting fit. Looking at nature, tidying the yard and picking up litter are all valuable learning activities and you will have so much fun with him that nothing will seem like a chore.

Be very generous with your praise and don't criticise if he's clumsy or slow. Your approval matters so much to him that all you need to do is say gently "No, we don't do it that way because it won't fit. Why not try again?"

Obviously you need to ensure he has a healthy, balanced diet with no sugar or processed foods, and that he gets enough sleep and rest. It's easy for small children to get overtired and they don't develop properly without rest.

The signs of intelligence are alertness, curiosity and interest in the world around him; ability to learn; and ability to work things out. If you are spending time with him every day you won't need to 'baseline' him - you'll see his intelligence and his personality unfold like a flower and grow stronger with time.

Talk to your pediatrician about the developmental stages and milestones that your child should be reaching. While there is no way to "increase" a baby's "intelligence", studies have shown that feeding your child a diet rich in DHA and ARA has helped improve brain development. Most formulas are fortified with DHA and ARA, check the label to be sure. IF you are breastfeeding, eat foods rich in DHA and ARA like salmon and eggs. You can also take supplements like fish oil or Expecta Lipil. But check with your pediatrician to see what they recommend. As far as activities, it is never too early to read to your child. Change the sound of your voice as you read, use books with lots of bright colors, and point things out in the pictures. Play games that develop hand-eye coordination, like rolling a ball or stacking blocks.

You'll develop his intelligence by paying him lots of attention and talking and reading to him as much as possible. You can just talk to him about anything; what you are doing, where you are going, what's for lunch - just talk. Look at books with him and read to him as he'll enjoy the rhythm of the words and get used to speech patterns.

Make sure you have stimulating toys that will challenge him. Go online or go to your local toyshop and look for developmental toys like rattles and stacking cups and jack-in-the-box toys - for your own sanity avoid anything that makes noise or lights!

Don't put him in front of the television while you do your chores, take him with you and talk to him about what you are doing.

I think leapster have really good educational toys which range for birth and keeps them entertained.
There is no better way though than talking with your child, and repetition as they memorize alot, so a good one is singing the alphabet in the car, it keeps them happy as they love to hear your voice and is doesn't cost a penny!

Love him and give him lots of attention and affection and he will be all he can be. Kids develop at different rates with huge spurts here and there, don't stress his intelligence, it will be quite counterproductive.

Its proven over and over is tests and such.

Read.

Read them age appropriate books, for however long you wish - 15 min a day min - and his I.Q will leap.

Just plain books. no wonderfoods or expensive toys.

Books. Even if he doesnt understand the words, read him books for his age groups, interact with him, its something you can do together :)
