Was hired help of Tycho Brahe [ the man with the collection of fake noses as well as the most accurate measuring devices of his day]. Kept diary/journal and talked about himself in it in the third person. Through use of Brahe's vast observational data [which Brahe would only give him in sparing amounts]came up with what are referred to as Kepler's Three Laws of Planetary Motion. The list goes on and on and you can find numerous sites just by doing a Google or Yahoo search or picking up some books such as Carl Sagan's Cosmos.

The wikipedia entry is a good start. I have used it recently to guide me through a thorough research (post-graduate level) in the lives of a few astronomers of that era. I even went to Prague to check out a few things.

Of course, if you cut and paste from wiki, your teacher will know immediately.

But it will help you set up a plan and even a summary. Don't try to cover everything in wiki (there is simply too much details and Kepler did work on so many things). Just pick a few important things and look at the footnotes and other links about these few important things.
For example, if you decide to talk about the regular solids that Kepler associated with planetary orbits, you may end up on Hart's web page.

Maybe your teacher will not send you to Prague... :-(

Hmm. Sounds like you need to do your OWN research.

Let's say I did write a 2000 word essay about Herr Kepler. Could you use it as a source? I doubt it. Your history professor is unlikely to accept an anonymous Yahoo Answers poster as a valid research source for your paper.

Go to the library and do your own research.
