I don't know about the sugar pills but you are supposed to take your birth control every day. It's best to take them at the same time every day b/c they only work for 24 hours a pill, so the minute that you're not on it then it's not working.

Yes, you are supposed to take the pill everyday at the same time. Forgetting by a few minutes on a day can happen and won't affect the period too much if done once in a while. But changing the time too much can mess up the cycle some and when this happens breakthrough bleeding and spotting can occur.

As for not taking the sugar pills and only taking the active ones yes it can be ok for some if they have medical problems such as endometriosis or a type of migraine called a menstrual migraine.

I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

Take the pill at the same time everyday. Missing it by more than a few hours can lower estrogen (I think?) levels. And I never take the placebo pills. I just toss the pack and remember to start again the next week.

Birth Control

Also called: Contraception
Birth control, also known as contraception, is designed to prevent pregnancy. Birth control methods may work in a number of different ways. These include

Blocking sperm from getting to the eggs - condoms and diaphragms work this way
Keeping the woman's ovaries from releasing eggs that could be fertilized - birth control pills work this way
Preventing fertilized egg from attaching to the lining of the uterus - intrauterine devices (IUDs) work this way
Sterilization, which permanently prevents a woman from getting pregnant or a man from being able to get a woman pregnant
Your choice of birth control should depend on several factors. These include your health, frequency of sexual activity, number of sexual partners and desire to have children in the future. Your health care provider can help you select the best form of birth control for you.
