Because nobody's gonna build an 80,000 seat stadium, and nobody's gonna wanna pay for it with their tax dollars. The Rogers Centre seats 53,000--and the only NFL stadium that "small" is in Indianapolis, where they're building a new one for the Colts.

Besides, I'd argue that there are only two or three Canadian cities big enough to support an NFL franchise, and they all have CFL teams already. Plus, two of those cities (Montreal and Vancouver) only support teams when they're winning. Montreal's NLL lacrosse team folded and their QMJHL team moved to Prince Edward Island, due to lack of fan support. And then there's the infamous story of the Expos. Vancouver's not as bad, but neither the Lions or the Canucks were getting stong attendance until they started winning more games a few years ago.

I think that Toronto could get enough fan support for the NFL, but the Argos would either move or die off as a result. In any case, I don't see the Bills, or any other franchise, moving up here. Not when there's plenty of billionaires who'd wanna keep them south of the border. I won't be upset if it doesn't happen, either.

because the CFL is our football league. We don't have our own pro basketball or baseball league.

Plus the NFL has no real incentive in coming to Canada. Canada won't generate TV revenues like American markets, Canadians who do enjoy the NFL will just travel to the border cities.
Plus only smogtown wants an NFL franchise and they would have to build a new stadium, or spend a load of money on upgrading the dome to at least 60,000.

I enjoy both CFL and NFL, however I'd rather see the NFL remain in the US.

Honestly other than a fringe few, most Canadians don't want it here if it will impact the CFL. And IF a team were to come to Canada they would have to get parliament to repeal the Canadian content rule.
It was different with baseball, it wasn't treading on anyone's toes. Same with basketball. But with the NFL, they would be walking into the CFL's turf and many Canadians will not stand for it.
NFL, no way! We don't want it.

Becasue the NFL is for the US. The CFL has teams across the country, we don't need another football league in Canada. It will be too much and it will saturate the market. NFL fans in the Ontario penisula go down to watch the Bills games in Buffalo, fans in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver) go down to Seattle. If there will be a NFL team in Canada it should be in Central Canada. But there will not be a big enough market for it. So, NFL will stay in the States and CFL will stay in Canada.

Why would you want NFL? Some of us yankees like to watch CFL games over NFL. I recall having season tickets for the Las Vegas Posse CFL team years ago.

Never will go to an over hyped NFL game. The CFL is more action and excitement, whereas the NFL is nothing but Ego and money. In my opinion, the CFL is way better.

NFL could only work in Toronto because of the high price of a team. But they would have to build a new stadium, since they didn't bother making the Rogers Center big enough at the time. Combine those two investments and where would the money come from? Toronto can't even afford to fix potholes and run a decent transit system. Financially supporting this country for 20 years took its toll on the "most hated city".

In the US the taxpayers have to pay for the NFL's stadiums. I guess that's socialism, American style. I don't think any politician who proposed raising taxes to build stadiums for the benefit of the NFL would last very long in Canada.

Besides, since Canadians already tune in to NFL games, or travel to games, the NFL already has the Canadian market without actually basing a team in Canada.

The NFL is fueled by American media contracts, and it can not work in Canada. Maybe Toronto can have a team, but that is still doubtful
