On my windows vista when I diagnosed the connection it said "Windows cannot connect to "my network" Wireless association failed because windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access point." I have full bars adn everything so Im not sure how to correct this. Please someone help

Several things can cause this. Start by opening the router config in a web browser window from a Wired machine.
Unless you changed the settings that will be at http://192.168.0.1

Once logged into the router go to the Wireless Settings.
Change your SSID from the default -- if you haven't already, make it something you will know and recognize.
Turn OFF all wireless security check particularly to see that there is no MAC filtering enabled! (You will want to enable it again later but for now TURN IT OFF.) You can also change the channel being used at this point - nearly all routers use channel 1, 6 or 11 try one like 3, 4 or 9 etc that will help if there are several routers around/near you.

Now see if you can connect. Should be able to do so if not, you either have non-compatible wireless cards (not likely) or a problem with the router. (Reboot the router - unplug wait one full minute reconnect the power, wait for it to boot and try again.)

Once you get connected without security, log back into the router and ENABLE wireless Security WPA is the one you want to use, (Be aware there are some issues with WPA and older wireless cards and some newer drivers..so if that doesn't work then try WEP.not as secure but better than none.) With either you can also enable MAC filters which will allow only the wireless cards you tell the system to allow. All of this is set on the router.

OK today while looking for another VISTA issue I found this it appears to apply DIRECTLY to your "unable to connect" issue.

Seems MS has done it again.. if you don't use a "Microsoft" DHCP server!!
