They count from the 1sst day of your last period, so if you have just missed your period you could be anything from 4 - 6 (maybe 8) weeks pregnant, Most people in the UK have a dating scan at 10 - 13 weeks so you will know for definate then

Yes, it is the first day of your last period which is funny because usually when you first find out you are already 4 weeks pregnant even though you only conceived two weeks previously.

The first day of your last period...i too find it funny because the egg will be released after 14 days of our last period. So conception shud occur after two weeks only.

The reason they count from the last period is because they are tracking the cycle of the egg from the ovaries. I don't know why the count that way and it is sort of funny at first but you will get used to it, and I bet everyone who has been pregnant wonders the same thing at some time. Good luck and Congratulations!!

Ah the mystery of pregnancy dates!!! It goes from the first day of your last period. Add 42 weeks to that and you'll be accurate. If you know the date you conceived add 40 weeks and i should work out the same. To get an ish date just add three months to the date you think you conceived and you'll be on the spot.

they count it from the first day of your last period but you don't actually ovulate or become pregnant until about 2 weeks after that not sure why they count it that way they just do.

It is calculated from the first day of your last period.
I had fertility treatment (Clomid), I knew the exact date of conception, I found it bizarre to be told I was four weeks not two when I found out.
Although it seems a little odd; technically pregnancy begins from the moment the egg is released/produced (whatever happens on day 1 of your cycle), if it gets fertilised ... you are two weeks pregnant already!
