Our family has lived in this slum apartment complex for three months and have had roaches since the first day we moved in. We even put the roach problem on the paper that listed all the things wrong with the apartment, for three months I have seen this problem get worse. I have even made a video. I've talked to the office several times and they haven't done anything. PLease help I need to know who I can contact in order to get this taken care of, can I report them? will the video help? I appreciate all answers to help with this.

Totally unacceptable! Roaches are a health hazard and just plain nasty and since you've contacted the apartment complex office and they haven't done a thing, you need to step it up. Do they not realize that they can be sued? Most good landlords freak out about the "Sue" word. The first thing I would do would be to call your local housing authority. If nothing else, they should be able to redirect you to the right authority. Keep every bit of evidence that you can that the roaches are in the house and out of control. If you have any witnesses or evidence that you attempted to have the office correct the problem, keep that too. Either the housing authority will step in, or you can pay for an exterminator and then sue the apartment for repayment. That is where the video and all evidence comes in to play. Try the housing authority first, then if that fails have an exterminator come in and then sue the office in small claims court. There is no reason they shouldn't take care of that problem. Good Luck.

My apartment community has a pest control service and the building still has roaches. In fact, I've never lived anywhere that didn't have roaches -- and I live in a pretty nice place. My solultion is to buy some roach traps of my own and place them around the apartment. Good luck.

first and foremost keep your apartment super clean at all times. don't store old pizza boxes under sink, take out trash daily, don't leave anything for the roaches. you may have to move the refrigerator and clean under/behind it, they like to hang out there... also pull out the oven and clean it out (unplug it), scrape all the old grease left behind by other tenants.

just because you live in a low rent apartment, is no reason for you to deal with this. it's a horrible hassle that you got stuck with other peoples filth. send a letter certified mail (they have to sign to receive) discussing the problem. nag them every day, write letters, call, don't let up until the problem is dealt with. start talking to the other tenants and asking if they have problem. put up a fuss, get as many folks involved as you can. post notices at the laundry room, mail boxes, etc saying the roach problem is bad. put flyer's on cars, protest in front of their office but on the sidewalk or easement. they will finally give in or let you out of your lease.

good luck!

Yes, you can report them. They need to fix that problem.
They should have done that well before yall moved in.
You can call the office of whatever apartments you are
living in and say something about it to them. If they don't
do anything about it then report them. Thats really grose.
Also roaches carry diseases.

Where do you live? You have not said which country you are in. Why not get "IT" spray and spray it where the cockroaches are or use Phynl ? Otherwise get in touch with your Pest Control Office failing that go to a health officer. I think mothballs or nepathine balls will help you. Cover all drains and water outlets at night and put all food inside a fridge. Do not leave any food outside at all. Pour distinfectant down all drains and toilets every night till they die or disappear....

Do a roach bomb (smoke), take pictures of the dead ones all over the place and take/send to your local health department; also your State Dept of Health. This is a health hazard.

i think if u want to get rid the problem, there is only two thing u can do.
1)put some anti roach which look like sweet around your apartment dustbin, arond your toilet sewage,at kitchen floor.
2)close the apartment dustbin properly/move to higher floor.

They are obliged to provide sanitary, problem free accommodation. There's a great book on the topic, 'The Complete Guide to Buying and Selling Apartment Buildings'.

ask everyone in the complex to complain

they will have to tent the building and you will have to leave for 3 days or more

the cost of tenting the building is what is slowing them down

you can call your own exterminator at your own expense and that will only temporarily solve your problem
