My cat was attacking the Xmas tree and it fell over. Now the part that one of the legs slide in to broke. The tree is on its side (poor tree).

Dose any one have any ideas. On how to repair or make a stand for an artifical tree. I am on a budget so make it inexpensive.

I love the log idea.

My idea was a plant pot, fill the bottom with something light - such as styrene and top with plaster of paris. The styrene should keep the finished pot lighter to carry. Before the plaster sets, coat the bottom of the tree with a lubricant, petroleum jelly would work and put into the plaster. Support it until it sets, shouldn't take long - you can take the tree out before it is completely dry the hole will stay. Paint the dry plaster with glue and sprinkle with real potting mix or with fake soil for model building, even just paint it brown. Could even mulch it with tinsel.

My dad made one out of a section of log...he just drilled a hole in the middle big enough for the "trunk" of the artificial tree to slot into....it looked great, natural and festive.

Use a couple bricks or something the right height for now, on the opposite sides. Just to get it off the floor. Here is an idea look a photo, http://www.freshchristmastree.com/Cinco_Medium_Tree_Stand.jpg take your stand and put it snuggly in a large round cut off bucket or thing make glue it so it will stand and wont tip.

If at all possible, I'd buy a new one so it would be nice and sturdy. You can get one at most hardware stores for less than $15.
