I am trying to price out tickets but can't find info on green car surcharge for Nozomi service. Looking for a table link or plain answer (Tokyo to Shin-Kobe) Thanks!

If you ride Shinkansen on a green car from Tokyo to Shin-Kobe, The Green Car surcharge is JPY4,840. Total cost is JPY19,630. You can check the following web site. It's in Japanese initially but when you push the button up left, it'll change into English.

The fare is little complicated. Don't mind slight difference, like a few hundreds yen, cos it depends on which station you bought the ticket.

From Tokyo to Shin-kobe by Nozomi is 2hr 51min ride.
Green car is 19,310yen
Normal reservation seat is 14,470yen.

I like to eat Japanese Obento (lunch box) and drink a beer in the Green car. There are a car called "Buffet car" in Nozomi. They sell Japanese lunch box and drinks in the car.

It says 19,310yen for green car from Tokyo to Shin-Kobe (one-way).

It's about $190.00 roughly.

Here's the HP in case you can read Japanese.

I would suggest only getting the green car during peak hours, otherwise the regular cabin is as good as any western train seat.

check the hyperdia link above I use it all the time...but , honestly, you don't need to take the green car...it costs so much!!!

Just buy an unreserved ticket on the fast train and line up 15 minutes before the train comes.

save yourself 60 dollars!
