I live in Stellenbosch, which is a wine farming town in South Africa.

I love:
-how beautiful it is: we're surrounded by mountains and vineyards.
-how close it is to the sea and how relaxed it is, but that it's still only 40 minutes away from the bright lights of Cape Town.
-getting to meet people from around the world, because it's a university town.
-the amount of culture in the town. Every week you can hear a new concert at the conservatory (often for free), and there are new plays coming out all the time.

I don't like:
-the monoculture associated with small towns. Sometimes it feels like all people ever do is have a barbecue and watch sport
-it's so relaxed that people sometimes retreat into a bubble and don't care about the rest of the country (or anything, in fact)
-it's still fairly segregated and conservative, and people are very conscious of the race and gender of the person they are talking to.
-it has a high rate of alcoholism among farm workers, because the farmers pay them part of their salary in wine! this has been outlawed, but is so entrenched that the farm workers demand it.

I live in san Diego. It is pretty much amazing. Our weather is perfect all year long and I have several times gone to the beach in the middle of January. We consider it cold out when it gets to be around 65 degrees. In San Diego we are close to everything, you can easily drive up the coast to LA or my fav, Santa Barbara, or you can take a 20 minute drive down to Mexico.

However, the part of San Diego I live in.. not so hot. I live in East County Santee, known for its racism and trailer trash. Its sad when I tell people what part Im from and get the "ohhh your from Clantee" look. Which sucks for those of us that aren't! I have resorted to telling people I'm from La mesa, sad I know...

I live in So California and I hate the traffic and the high prices of everything and homes, I hate that you have to send a picture of yourself just to get a job in LA people are so shallow.

I live in Toronto, which is a huge city with lots of people and plenty of fun things to do. It's culturally diverse, and a gateway to the rest of the world (I love to travel).

What I dont like is how expensive it is, rather polluted (compared to other Canadian cities), and the cold winters.
