Say a girl I know is pregnant by another man and that man is irresponsible and won't help the girl out financially to help her with an abortion. The girl just found out she is pregnant. Say a guy like me wants to help her have the abortion because she is a good friend and she wants it very badly because she is not ready for a kid in her life. How long does a woman have in regards to time to get an abortion before it's too late? Please give me a real answer! Thanks!

***The reason for my question is that I need some time to get the money together to help her out and I want to know how long of waiting period I have before helping her get the abortion!

Whatever happened to encouraging friends not to abort. Do you realize that you are going to be helping someone take the life of a baby. Her baby's heart is beating just 3 weeks after conception- at 6-8 weeks everything is there that will be except smaller, Just a few short months ago it was legal to have an abortion up until the birth of the baby- now I believe it is 24 weeks- look on the internet and find out what the baby looks like at different stages, you will be amazed- it is not just cells you will be looking at. If she is not ready to have a child, you should be a great friend, and encourage her to place for adoption- if it was not for adoption, I may not be here, My 2 kids may not either, since all of our birth moms chose life, but could not raise us. Helping someone get an abortion- listen to yourself- by the way, if you really care for your friend, you would not want her to go through the abortion- they can cause problems both physically and emotionally- I know, I counseled women for 10 years who were considering aborting or did abort. I know this is not the answer you were looking for, however it is the answer I have to give.

If she is not ready for a child in her life, to start with, she should not have had sex. But, mistakes are made. Don't make the mistake worse by getting an abortion. She will have more problems later. If she is not ready to raise a child, there are plenty of options. Adoption is one. And a fantastic one at that. Had it not been for a scared young girl, I would not have my daughter today. This young girl that made the choice of adoption, changed my life forever. This may not be help to your question of how long, but, the psychological problems for your friend later on, knowing that she killed an unborn child will far outweigh the cost of that abortion. That is something that will stay with her forever. There are so many good families out there that cannot have children. If you are a REAL-TRUE friend, you will talk to her about the alternatives and support her in those. She will not respect you for helping her with an abortion. She may even end up having hard feelings for you after that. That is a very traumatic experience. Please, have her rethink the alternatives. God Bless.

The longer you wait the more gruesome and traumatizing the procedure becomes. Under 8 weeks is ideal. Under 12 is possible.

Salt Poisoning injection used after 16 weeks (four months) when enough fluid has accumulated. A long needle injects a strong salt solution through the mother's abdomen into the baby's sac. The baby swallows this fluid and is poisoned by it. It also acts as a corrosive, burning off the outer layer of skin. It normally takes somewhat over an hour for the baby to die from this. Within 24 hours, labor will usually set in and the mother will give birth to a dead or dying baby. (There have been many cases of these babies being born alive. They are usually left unattended to die. However, a few have survived and later been adopted.)

Any later than that and you're birthing the child half out while the doctor sucks the brains out. No body wants to go through that.

Don't leave it longer than 12 weeks. I can't imagine any reputable doctor terminating a pregnancy at 24 weeks! That is 6 months! Babies can survive being born premmie at this stage! Usual guidelines, in Australia anyway, is 12 weeks. Anything longer than this they will not do unless there is a medical reason. And no, i'm not telling you this because i believe in abortion as a form of birth control, i believe in a womans right to choose. Sounds as though the woman is more like a teenager, and chances are, no where near ready for a baby.

Well since she is allready pregnant i would say that it is too late. She should go through the pregnancy and have that baby. So what, if the dad don't want to be there to help out. He might actually come around. I don't think that she has the right to take the life of this baby. You are not a good friend to help her get the abortion. A real friend would help her get through the pregnancy. I say no way too it!!!! The baby is still alive regardless if it is the size of a pea or bigger. Tell her to have the baby, then give it up for adoption.

P.S. Not to be mean but the baby is not your's, your not the dad, so who gives you the right to okay an abortion?

If you "help" your friend pay for an abortion, you will also be helping her kill an innocent human being and helping her into a lifetime of physical and emotional problems. If you really care about her, take her to a crisis pregnancy center where she can get real help. All of their services are free and confidential. They can give her referrals for financial, medical, legal, and housing assistance; free maternity and baby supplies; pregnancy, parenting, and adoption information; and counseling and emotional support. You can find one in your area by calling 1-800-395-HELP or visiting:

Take a look at this information and share it with your friend. She'll thank you for it in the long run:

Whether she's "ready" for a child or not, she HAS one. Just one week after she misses her period, her child's heart is already beating. I sincerely hope that you are not the type of person who would willingly participate in legal homicide. Do what you can to save the child and save your friend from a lifetime of regret. God will hold you accountable for the part you play in this.

Do you watch the TV program "South Park"? Remember the episode where Eric Cartman's mom wanted to get an abortion, but the doctor wouldn't do it because Eric was already eight years old? I bet they would make an exception for your mom.

For your girlfriend, the sooner the better, if she has really made up her mind (and I mean her, not you), tomorrow would be good. If you are a **** "self made millionaire" how long can it take to raise the money? I don't know where you live, but around here the banks open at 9:00.

I am not going to say abortion is wrong. I mean it is but I am not going to go there.

What I am going to say is this. Women who have abortions experience a higher instance of Uterine and Ovarian Cancer then women who have not had abortions. The guilt in dealing with the aftermath of an abortion is also horrible for the women to deal with.

Not to mention if the abortion is done wrong, she could still be pregnant and deliver a deformed and/or a mentally retarded child. Worse yet if the abortion is botched she could wind up having to have a hysterectomy and never be able to have children.

So if you were truly her friend you would not let her take this chance with her life and you would give her your emotional support through the remainder of her pregnancy and delivery.

Depending on the state 22-24 weeks is the latest she can have an abortion. The reason for that is that it medical science has made it so that preemies born at 24 weeks CAN be viable. Years ago it was unheard of for a fetus at 24 weeks to survive outside the womb. Now they can and since it is possible for a fetus to survive outside the womb at 24 the fedral law has determined 24 weeks to be the "cut off" point. If ANYONE in any of the 50 US states has had an abortion or performed one past 24 weeks they did so against the law and should be reported.

She should try to apply for medicaid and I think they might cover it, but not sure. Look in the phone book under govt>state>job and family services.

If she later has second thoughts and you helped her pay for the abortion, then that could be the end of your friendship, so think about this very carefully before you become involved in such a serious decision.
