Because if they can make someone else the scapegoat, they don't have to focus on their own shortcomings and they feel better.

It is usually taught. I have taught my children to love others. I have told them to judge others on their deeds rather then their religion, their color, or creed. I have said its important to be respectful, to speak out against injustice. I have opened the doors to my home to whomever they were friends with and whoever they chose to love. My heart is at peace because I have not taught them racism or to hate. I have said its so important to speak out if you hear a racist comment and make the offender see that you will not tolerate that kind of talk. I have a real problem hating anyone. I do feel very sad for those that do actually as they will pay for that hate one day, whether it be in illness or in Murphys Law. Often the person that you hate may end up one day to be the person you need in your life or someone you may end up loving. Hate is a very negative emotion and a told waste of ones emotions.

Hate is learn behavior. Ever watch children before the age of three? They fight but they forget what mad about and keep playing fairly. I never seen or hear a healthy child that comes from loving environment express hate. But I seen perfect sweet children who parents teach them to fight and hit turn into bulling brats.

I could argue that people hate because hate has to exist in order for love to, you can't have or understand one if the other is unknown and so they both have to exist.

It's one of the basic human/animalistic urges (along with love). People hate, as a prelude to defending, fighting etc.

It's a byproduct of ignorance and fear... If we do not understand, we feel threatened, which results in feelings of insecurity and fear. To protect our fragile egos, we lash out at the source of our fear. The best way to fight hate is with education and understanding.

Because they hate themselves. If you hate yourself, how can you love others? If you can't take of yourself, you can't take care of others.
