Before you begin reading this, I should warn you; I am only a fourteen year old, I'm trying to gather some information. I apologize in advance if this upsets you in anyway.

So I have this friend, right? He's nineteen, a sophomore, and in a kind of a bad place right now. And no, not the kind of place you probably think. Like, an actual bad place. I saw his 'house' for the first time today; These last few days have been cold and drafty, with scattered rain. His house has windows with no glass. The front doors are sliding glass. There aren't any interior doors, just sheets in the doorway. The floors are bare, a large puddle of rain water leaks from the ceiling.

Being nineteen, people would think he should just move out, but he doesn't have anywhere to go. He's still in school as I mentioned before. My first priority is getting him out of that place. He's currently living with his mother, but from what I understand she's kicking him out within the next two-three days.

Help? Any?

I did think about asking my mom and dad if he could stay with us for a minute, except there's five of us, including them, myself, and three siblings, in a two bedroom apartment. We really don't have room.

I don't know that there is a YMCA around, surprisingly. We live in a pretty small, downtrodden area.

I truly don't think he has anywhere to go, or he would have gone already.

My next problem being he (as afore mentioned) is a nineteen-year-old male.

I'm a fourteen-year-old female.

You see why my mom and dad might be a bit hesitant to allow him to stay with us ^-^;;

Honey, your first priority should not be having to assist a 19 year old in something like this. He lives with his Mother and they live in the conditions they live in for a reason. You are going to see alot of this in your life. It is commendable that you want to help but you must learn to to lead folks to the help they need and not feel that you have to help them. where are your parents? Have you told them about this situation? At 19, this man is knowledgeable enough of the world that he knows what options he has in the city. Be careful with your caring heart.

Try to convince his mother not to kick him out if she gives a damn about her son.

You might be able to find a homeless shelter in the city somewhere. If that's not an option, you should consider asking your parents if he could move in with you. Perhaps, try contacting extended family or distant relatives?

Call the authorities, ask a school official where he could go, research foster homes on the internet. Ask him why he hasn't done these things himself. He may feel he shouldn't leave his parents.

encourage him to contact a YMCA or a local kids help line to find out places that can give him free accomidation and etc. maybe talk to your parents about it, they might be able to help. its sad that some people dont have loving families who take care of them and its sweet you want to help.

y dont u ask him to talk to his mother, to give him a chance to change few things, like: he cud work and earn few bucks to enhance him in some way, he cud work hard to accomplish smthing his mother wants badly, and earn her trust 4 further more! in this way he will have more time!
