This rule does not apply to ALL words.

It is merely a guideline for young people (primary years) to help them with some more difficult words(which DO use this rule)

It does work for the majority of words however.

there are a lot of exceptions to these "rules" After all, rules are meant to be broken.

yea i've always thought that's a dumb rule because there are many exceptions. and it messed peopke up. a lot of people spell weird "wierd" and that's just wrong. damn that rule. don't listen to it
